Currently the leading rookie goal scorer in the American Hockey League is Quinn Hudson. He's got thirteen points and or thirteen goals, and he's tied for the top score amongst HL rookies with twenty-four points. Technically, because they played in Europe, uh Mariala and Samansky are not considered uh uh rookies by the HL standard.

Yeah, it sure is. You know, we were you know, you you uh you've heard me say lots of, you know, blue collar workman like style, you know, get to the paint, stay at the paint. Um you know, and that and that that worked for us, uh, you know, uh in the past up until, you know, last year, obviously non playoff team on the last day of the season, you know, but we just we had to score by uh shot volume, uh rebound recovery, that kind of stuff whereas uh whereas now we have a total totally different makeup like like you're saying and uh you know we're we're trying to uh just en embrace you know the skill we have uh and and and then uh remind them to be super at at that, right? So, you know, they're skillful, let's be skillful.

So, you know, um let's make less make lots of plays. Let let's score goals, um, you know, and uh when we're when we're firing we're really, really good.

Yeah, uh you know, and then there's obviously times and uh that uh um they like to have different different choices or different decisions made and uh that's why they're here and uh you know, we're helping them through that.

Well, I I wanna ask you this because from my perspective it might be different than your perspective, okay? I do expect Bakersfield to make the playoffs. Like seven of the ten teams in that division make the playoffs. But this is gonna sound bad. I don't care if you win every game. Like i it's it's y I I can a coach you know what I'm saying here, just play the just play the kids and help prep them for the NHL. How does a guy balance that as a coach? And how much does messaging from management assist in that process? And and you gotta have better younger players, and I think they've found some better younger players for you. I think that needs to be conceded. But you know how how tricky is that to navigate for you as a head coach of the team?

Yeah, it it it is tricky because um, you know, at the end of the day, uh, you know, coaches from the American League are getting NHL opportunities because they win. Like there's no story, uh, you know, or they develop a lot of players that play in the NHL. So it's one of the two, right? Uh I I do believe that you can do both in the American League. It's it's very difficult to do and and I do think uh you know, uh in my first year, uh, there were some players that uh started to make some jumps to Edmonton.
