I'm doing really well. Thanks for having me on, Bob. How about yourself? Yeah,
good. Uh I gotta tell ya, we were in Vancouver on Thursday night. By my count, and it wasn't supposed to be this way for Owen Michaels, but he's gonna start the season with the Edmonton Orders and Isaac Howard as well. And by my count, those were the only two orders forwards that likely would be in the lineup to start the year. Uh and on defense, none. Of the sixty that were dressed, uh I envisioned starting the season. Um Tristan Jerry gave him a good start. Are y and and so here's a query I have for you. Those guys played hard, they were competitive. Are you seeing better players being found by the hockey operations department? Because ultimately the job of the GM column? is to get as many as good players as you can.
Ya uh yes. I I would I would say uh simple answer yes. You know, uh more uh more skilled, more offensive players, um skaters. You know, and and what I mean by that is Mariella, you know, Hudson, uh uh Howard, uh, Samansky, you know, you saw Owen Michaels, uh, from uh you know, on the back end Um leftin and Carfania. this year editions of uh Sabalka and Seoul and some you know some unknown so It's exciting. Uh, you know, we play an exciting brand down here, we're pressuring and then uh you know, we're offensive, we're attacking and it's really, really exciting to see uh some players uh play for the big club. Uh, you know, it seems like we're uh we're on the right track.
How closely do the Bakersfield Condors follow the Edmonton Oilers’ playing system?
How many conversations have you had in terms of philosophical alignment playing the same way in the AHL that Mike Babcock and DJ Smith want to play in the NHL? Has that you know, I I'm sure you're allowed to tweak a little, but is there a concerted effort to try to play? The wow, what happened there? The same way system wise.
Yes, you know, we we we were uh, you know I would say the things that uh uh D J and Babs are doing, uh we're we're I would say we're we're doing 'em already uh down here. Uh there's there's a couple of little tweaks and a couple of little terms that are really, really I really like that that Babs and DJ were doing, but you know, certainly they have our coaching staff connected with theirs and I think most importantly um you know they want us playing you know the way they're playing without the puck to make sure that you know someone gets called up and they're in a bottom six roll or a bottom D pairing uh they know what to do without the puck. So that that message is is uh is clear and we need to make sure that uh the guys are ready to go when called upon.
It's it's a little bit harder offensively uh you know when you have ninety seven and twenty nine, they're not you know, th those players are generational players and you know a little more difficult to to to emulate uh those s those sorts of things on the power play and and uh and offensively I would say.
