Who is the new Oilers Now producer and what will he bring to the show?
Hey, it's Bob Stoffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon music, included with Prime. All right, welcome everybody. Bob Stoffer joining you with Oilers Now. It is brought to you by our title sponsor, World of Spa. As we say hello to our new producer. He's been shadowing for the last several months, Aiden Gannam. Hello, Aiden. How you doing?
I'm great, Bob. I'm fired up. It's been a it's been a long wait. I'm I'm excited to be able to
a long wait. Just so you know, the last three producers of this show, Reed Wilkins, ended up doing uh what is pre and post and uh ended up having his own show as well. Brendan uh Ulrich, who is now in uh Tails uh for sales. He's one of the top sales guys for course. Somebody maybe help steer him in that direction. And Brendan Escott, who's doing inside sports and oiters pre and post. So, you know, I think I should probably charge course for for the uh tutelage that I'm providing. Uh I know Wes Montgomery used to tell me years ago, don't be afraid to pay it forward. So I'm looking forward to uh uh having a good time. Now we need we do need to establish that this show is called Withers Now. Mm-hmm. You grew up a fan of what you NHL team.
I grew up a fan of the Boston Bruins, but honestly with the with the trajectory of my career and the way things have been going, I'm I'm excited to to get on the Oilers wagon here and they they're a pretty good hockey team right now. Might
m might be a long run for Boston this year. Might be a couple of years. I mean, that kinda happens. They had really good teams for a number of years and there's a cyclical nature in the cap world. Derek Scott is here as well, uh, along with Callan Kennedy and Derek to put things in perspective, just so Aiden is aware of this, you and me were doing shows at the other state Aiden, are you uh how old are you? Twenty two, twenty three? I'm twenty one.
You know, turned twenty two in December. All right. So you were uh dude. I was right around the same age when I started working for you. Yeah, going back to uh total hockey, not even
total sports. Total hockey in February of two thousand and three. So you were not born in February two thousand three, Reid? No, we had a week to go.
What’s the latest on Connor McDavid’s contract‑extension talks and the team’s holding pattern?
Wow. I feel really old. Uh anyhow, uh nothing new at this time. That's Cut Tiller Chaser top story for legacy heating and cooling, home and no payments and no interest for year. That's how you build a legacy legacy heating and cooling. Uh we're sort of in a holding pattern on Connor McDavid. Ultimately it's gonna be what Judd Moldaver and Connor McDavid decide they wanna do uh in terms of a term length and price point. But man oh man, lots of people have lots to say. We'll get to that momentarily. In fact, we'll even hear from some of the Oiders uh teammates as well as Connor McDavid in about uh 39 seconds time. But not before I tell you that we're also going to talk a bit about Oiders goaltending this week.
And uh one of our guests today is gonna be Ben Scrivens, former uh Emma's Oiders goaltender. Uh speaking of goaltending, one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history, Ken Dryden. Career 922 save percentage. He passed away on the weekend. His coach, Stan Bowman's father, Scotty Bowman, now 91 years sharp. Wait till you hear him. He is coming up on today's edition of Otters Now at 505. And one of the most plugged-in guys in the business, and I mean this, out in Vancouver, Rick Dollywall, uh from uh check. T T V and uh the Vancouver Athletic. He will join us today at uh five thirty five as we start our look at uh the Canadian teams. Tomorrow we're gonna have Jamie Thomas on from Winnipeg. AJ Jacobic is gonna join us uh during this week.
Uh we are gonna hear from Eric Francis out of Calgary as well. AJ's in Ottawa. Uh and uh also on the show this week, uh Dom Lucian uh will be joining us from the athletic. He's got his uh team rakings coming down the pipe as well. You can always reach us. On the River Creesort and Casino Hotline, 780 451-8800, brought to you by the River Cree Resort Casino.
