Hey, it's Bob Stoffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. Here's Brandon Escott.
I didn't know we still had one of those. That's awesome. Usually I'm not doing this anymore, but uh I guess I was called into action today. So you're hearing me ahead of the Oilers and Ottawa Senators this evening on 880 Chad. That is a five o'clock puck drop. That's why you're hearing from us so early. I'm looking up, I've got uh daytime television on. Uh we're watching the talk instead of our usual nightly sports run here in the studios, but it's Brandon. It is uh Derek Scott on the other side of the glass. Bob going to join us at some point, I guess, in the first hour, or uh perhaps not as traffic from Kannada to or rather from Ottawa to Kannada, I think, is somewhere along that highway. There it's it's a little bunged up.
So here we find ourselves having a conversation. You can join the conversation if you'd like to on the river. River Cree Resort Casino Hotline, 780-451-8800. Don't miss Parrots of the Caribbean at the River Cree. Parrots of the Caribbean on December 31st. Tickets at the RiverCree Resort.com. Parrots of the Caribbean. I wonder what that is all about. I gotta check into that. That number again, 780-451-8800, is also the Ashley Find Floors text line. Find the new floors you've always wanted at 143rd Street, 1111th Avenue, or head to Ashley FindFloors.com for more. We are on X as well. The show is at OilersNow. Bob is at Bob underscore Stoffer. You can find me at Brendan Escott. That's Brendan with an E. Escott with two Ts.
Had a feeling you might have heard that before. Anyway, uh listen, that last night's game was uh a bit of a difficult watch for uh for a lot of us. I think the Oilers they came with a good effort against Toronto on Saturday nights and didn't get the results. Bad results, right? They came with a poor effort last night in my opinion, and uh ended up with the same poor results. That was uh the team in Montreal that allows More goals than all but one in the NHL. And you couldn't muster a single goal against them. Some opportunities that were rang off the post if you're Ryan Nugent Hopkins, but a lot of what was being generated by Edmonton was coming from the perimeter. And uh I think we'll hear about that as we dis uh dissect the audio, I guess is the word I'm looking for here.
In fact, uh Why don't we do that right now? Why don't we jump right into our audio vault?
The Oilers Now Audio Vault is brought to you by Direct WorkWare. In these tight budget times, Direct Workware is the superhero your wallet deserves. Cute selection, low prices at Direct WorkWare.
Jack Michaels on the call at the Bell Center.
From the Bell Center in Montreal, 21,000 plus. Here, ready for Edmonton and Montreal. Side of the net, backdoor play, and the same meet on Heineman. Pickard with an excellent read, and Heineman denied. Caulfield, the team leader with 12 goals. Here's a spot redirected in front. Gallagher had a stick down. Matheson. Through it toward the night. Here's Dwarr. One timer and Picker and a tremendous stop, or Gallagher would have had his second goal in 15 seconds. McDavid took it away. Dry side was checked immediately by Caulfield off the pot. Caulfield handed to Evans. Now Gooley, a wrist shot. Nothing. Caden Gooley's second of the year. Down low to McDavid behind the net. McDavid gliding in front. Tipped and cleared by Montreal.
Lofted, dead center, empty net. The Canadians extend to a 3-0 lead with 3-0 eight to go. Just trying to get it out. Jake Evans put enough loft on that for it to land softly and straight. And it rolls into the back of the net. Your final score. Montreal three and Edmonton nothing.
Disappointing for sure. 30 to 25. They outshot Montreal. The Habs had like 10 shots on goal halfway through the game. It seemed like they were getting nothing. And frankly, despite Edmonton's shots on goal, it didn't really seem like a lot of it was coming from the heart of the the the house, the paint, the the area and the slot there where a lot of goals generally come from.
