Good afternoon everybody. It's Bryn Griffith sitting in for Bob Stoffer. He and the Oilers are en route to Seattle. They're almost there. They'll get ready for their matchup against the Kraken coming up tomorrow night on hockey night in Canada. That's an eight o'clock start our time. Then it's into Vancouver for a matchup on Saturday night. So we'll see how they do. Man, that was a short homestand, huh? Just one game. It was a crazy game. But the oil is coming up with a victory in that one. We'll be talking a fair bit about that with our guests throughout the afternoon. Gotta get to some of your emails. Here's one. Brent. Bob looked visibly agitated and frustrated during the intermission. I didn't really notice, but that's just me.
Uh he could have to you, I guess. Is this team just not taking things seriously early on, or is this a chemistry issue with the three dozen line combos? Yeah, they mix 'em up a fair bit. That one from Penner's Pancakes. I I don't know. Uh you know how Bob takes things. Bob takes everything personally. So there's that. I can't say that you know, like I said, I like it when Bob's a little visibly agitated and maybe a little frustrated during intermissions. I think it makes for better intermissions. And he and Jocky engage were pretty solid last night. So I don't know about that. But you know what? We've been talking in fact we talked in the first half hour of the show about the fact that here we go again. This is the third season where they talk about getting off to a good start.
And granted, they are winning more than they're losing, so this doesn't really match up with the last two starts of a season. But you know what? To think they're gonna go all out in the top gear, right from the start to the finish, whenever that is? I dunno. Hard to say. But I'm not banking on it. I think that you know what? You know what you know what these guys are thinking. We gotta finish strong.
Did the referees influence the Oilers’ win over Montreal?
That means we'll finish the season strong. We'll finish going into the Olympic break strong. Going into the Christmas break strong. Starting the season, what's it really done for us? Not much. We just gotta be better. We gotta be better down the end. Down the end stretch, right? So there's that. So Penner's Pancakes or P P. Don't worry too much about it. I think they're gonna be fine. See, this is what this is the influence of Rob Brown on me last season. I was very much Penner's pancakes, I was very much the way you were last season, going, When are they gonna turn it around? When are they gonna get it going? And I'd look over at Rob and he'd just kinda sit back. Don't worry about it. They're gonna be fine. So I've kind of taken that attitude.
So far this season. Yesterday they weren't all that great. for the first forty minutes, but man, they found their way in the last twenty. And they found a way to win that game. That might have been a game they would have lost last season. Maybe the season before. Montreal's much better. Anyway, it was a fun game to watch. Highly entertaining. I'm pretty sure that Chris Knobloch and the coaching staff probably put that one away. Watched it to see what do we do. Like how did this I'm not really sure what happened there. What it oh, I didn't like that. That was pretty good. That was pretty good. And then just put it away. No sense going over and it and over again as much as you possibly could. Some of the other text messages we're gonna get to here.
Ugh man. What's your best analysis? Do you think the oilers are turning the corner or is there still a lot of work to do? What are your thoughts? I think that I've probably gotten to the point now.
