Uh not really happy to talk about the Oilers kicking off their season with a six-nothing loss to the Winnipeg Jets, but it's just the way it goes. You know, often you look at what your team didn't do in a situation like that. I also have to remind myself that the Winnipeg Jets won fifty-two games last season. They're good. The only reason why they stumbled and bumbled a little bit in the playoffs, for my money, was that the power play and the penalty kill kind of went into the trash. But for the most part, it uh it was uh you know, once we got past the midway point of that middle period, it was uh it was gonna be tough sledding for the Oilers because Connor Hellebuck was on fire.

Uh the one thing they who was obviously talking about was the new line with Arvidson and Skinner and how it kind of shook down yesterday.
Yeah, it it takes time. Um I thought we had a couple a couple of looks. Um you could tell there's uh you know, a couple of potential looks that um you know if we if we connect on those um you know, they they might be in the back of the net or or a uh a grade age look for us. So um yeah, we just obviously uh you know, gotta continue to create chemistry and and work at it. But like I said, sometimes that that just takes a little bit of time.
Now for my cash, Skinner I didn't really notice him too much during the training camp and yesterday I he had the most shots of any order, four actually in that game yesterday, which is a little deceiving. But uh Ardwardson has been, I think, probably one of the not really a surprise, but I like the way he was building his game as preseason rolled along and I thought he was not bad last night. As for the game, Leon, your thoughts on that one?
couple of mistakes that, you know, immediately ended in the back of the net. Um you know, we gotta be a lot sharper in in those moments. Um But yeah, obviously not the start we want, so we'll regroup and um yeah, put a bet better effort in on uh Saturday.
And as for the netminder, Stuart Skinner. Stu is very honest about his game. If he doesn't play well, he usually says that and he had a thought or two on the way things shook down for him. He was pulled about midway through the hockey game and obviously Pickard came in, but for Stu, here's his assessment. Here's his breakdown of how he played.
The game was a little too quick for me and I just wasn't uh up to speed. Um and that's on me just in the way that I was playing. Uh maybe it was Um, you know, too much aggression on my part, uh where I probably should have played, you know, read the game probably a little bit better. So um again I'm gonna look at all the video and kinda check it out and see, uh see where I can improve.
