There were some uh I know I uh referenced the attendance numbers with the oil kings two years ago. I don't know if I relayed this story to you. Uh the last year that Arizona was in the league Playing at the Mulet at uh the Mullet Arena and I told the guys in Arizona that the Edwards Oil Kings have been out of the playoffs basically since the start of the year and in your final ten dates that year, I think you averaged ninety five hundred fans per game. And I said I and I said, Here's you know, an NHL team in Arizona and there were actual games they were not sold out for that last year.
So We know how good of a job you guys have done. Last year you took a a step forward. You had a very competitive team, playoff team, and now, um, you guys are pr preseason number sixth in out of uh in the country in terms of how you're projected, uh the second best team on paper, I think, in the uh in the in the WHL. Is it easier to sell a good team in the Western League, or is that not how you kind of I is it more about, you know, how you attract to getting people in the buildings? What would you say it is?
You know, I I I think winning is a component of it. There's no question about it. But to me it's all about the entertainment value and it's all about the value for families to be able to come out to enjoy thrilling junior hockey at Rogers Place. We are so lucky to be able to play in one of the most beautiful buildings in North America. But then to be able to offer it with all of the promotions, with all of the fun that comes in beyond what you get to see on on the ice. So yeah, when you're coming down and like like for example, tomorrow afternoon, we've got Curtis Lazar is gonna be here, most beloved oil king of all time, current member of the Edmonton Oilers. We're gonna be giving away his penance.
And we have one of the top Taylor Swift tribute acts in all of Canada. She's gonna be performing. She's actually flying here as we speak from Toronto, Carlos Sacco, and she's gonna be playing a forty five minute post sh uh postgame show right at center ice, all the Taylor Swift hits, and that's all in t on top of after we uh hopefully get done beating the Red Deer Rebels.
