Uh Jesper Fast retired at 33 years old, did not play last season because of uh neck surgery. So that ultimately is gonna cost him uh the rest of his career, unfortunately. Uh big contract for Yanni Gord. He signs in Tampa Bay for six more years, two point three three million dollar AAV, so that'll take him right up to thirty-nine years old. Wow. Uh yeah, pretty impressive deal for him. And then of course Of course, we've got uh the Memorial Cup, which is now in the books. A big victory for the uh London Knights. We'll tell you a little bit more about how the Oilers prospects did. I know you already touched on that, Bob, but we've got the prospect report coming up as well. So we will uh rack that up in a
All right, stay with me here for a second. So we're we're a couple days away. Uh you got inside sports tonight, it's the Evan Letters and the Florida Panthers in round two. What's your take on what you think we might see?
It's a good question because I think that there's two teams that are both playing the best hockey that they could be playing coming into this series, and it really feels like a couple of juggernauts about to do battle. Now, I'm a little bit tepid about how physical Florida is, just because they seem to have really been able to impose themselves on some other teams. But that being said, I think Edmonton might be the best team that we've seen. in terms of their roster composition to be able to absorb that, not only as their defense as puck movers, but also dish it out a little bit back and not back down from that kind of aspect of the game. So uh it's gonna be a heavyweight shot uh bout. I think they're gonna go body shot for body shot through a couple of games and then we're gonna see where the skill went out.
There's been a couple interesting backdrops to the physicality. Uh Vasili Patulson's first NHL fight was against A.J. Greer. It did not go well. Uh Greer worked him over pretty good. This year, Greer uh cross checked Patulson hit first in the boards from behind. And instead of uh staying on the ice and whining and trying to induce a major penalty, uh Vasili got up and went right back at him and fought him. Tried to fight. So you have that. You have Sam Bennett, tough as nails, we know that, and fights like he's never gonna eat if he loses the fight uh again in his life. Like he throws from downtown, he's fought Darnell Nurse. You've had um Trent Frederick go after Matthew Kachuk when Frederick was with Boston.
Kachuk wasn't uh overly willing. Um Uh they also have Jonah Gadgevich who's probably of the guys in the series. Well, I mean I think if Andrew Kane's a pretty good fighter. It's gotta be established. But but Jonah Gadgevich is a younger guy, but he's only playing nine minutes a game. The Orders are gonna need Kane with Hyman out of the lineup.
