Rick, uh your second uh trip out to uh Penticton, I would say it's God's country out here. It's a spectacular place to say the least.
Uh you can't argue about the setup of the hotel either. We're literally le we're as close as you could possibly be to the entrance into the building as you could be. But just uh a thought about the importance of these events from an evaluation tool and a chance to see some of the guys that you selected.
Yeah, I just think that uh deal for the organization, for our fans, for internal uh you know, early evaluation of the players is great. It's good for them to play amongst their peers. It's good for them to get together, uh you know, play against players of NHL ability, different ages. It's a younger group so it's not jumping into exhibition games against national leaguers or anything just yet, but uh depending on the lot rosters we've seen some American league players, some college players, some CHL players, European players, so it's a nice myth 'cause and it's their peer group, so real exciting.
Uh you previously uh were the head scout in Colorado and uh you're also with the Flyers in a uh senior scouting role there as well. What what did those two organizations do? Did they do a similar rookie type tournament to this?
Yeah, we didn't have anything uh my early years in in Colorado. Uh and then in Philly we basically would team up with uh the Rangers and play a two game set uh either in the practice facility in uh New York or uh in uh Lehigh Valley.
How does Rick Pracey evaluate amateur players at events like Penticton?
with the flyers. Now do those tend to be physical and count have you noticed that there's been a bit of a evolution towards more skill and left stuff 'cause I can tell you I've been coming here, the first tournament here was two thousand I've been at all of 'em dating back to two thousand and ten. And there was usually five or six scraps uh over the course of three games. Uh until about twenty fifteen and then the fighting started to decrease a bit. Does that surprise you?
Uh it doesn't surprise me but sometimes you know when kids uh you know have an identity or try to make a name for themselves, sometimes their identity comes through and uh I do recall Mr. Rempe making a very very significant uh impression uh last year, uh maybe two years ago, uh when we played uh New York. Uh well he could do that. Yeah. It was it was about thirteen seconds into the game, so it still happens.

happens once in a while.
All right, uh the Oilers made an impression and full disclosure we used to go to the draft every year because frankly it was often the highlight of the season when you're selected number one. And uh you know, uh we did not go to the draft the last couple years.
