Dawson, first things first, are you a music fan? Yeah, I love a bit of music, but obviously it's all over the place here. On a bit more professional level, how's the pre-season going? How's the body? How are you getting on?
Yeah, really good. I think it's been a tough pre-season. I've been back a while now, so we've got a lot of stuff in the bank now. All the players worked really hard and we're looking forward to the season starting next week. You've got Pats first.
It's a home game, but it's in Aviva Stadium. Obviously, you're used to this last year. How is that dynamic going and playing? What is the game that's meant to be at Daly Mount in the Aviva Stadium?
What are the expectations for the new League of Ireland season?
Yeah, it's obviously, it's a bit strange, obviously, because it's obviously, you know, You're used to the cup finals and all being played in the Aviva so it's obviously a bit strange but a massive occasion for the league, for the clubs involved. You only get three points at the end of the day for the win but we'll be looking to do that again and like I said, looking forward to it. Is that something that you relish as a player, playing in those big cauldrons? Yeah, it is, yeah. I think every player, I'll tell you that, they want to play in the biggest stages, in the biggest stadiums. So, yeah, look, it's obviously a massive stadium and it'll be a really good occasion again, yeah.
Speaking of stadiums, Huron Stadium, Daly Mount Park, obviously it's in its final year. Do you realise how much this means for maybe Bo's fans who are at home? You're going to be the captain that lead them out in the final year, iconic stadium in Dublin.
I think the last few weeks we've had a few convos about that with ex-legends of the club and a lot of people that have been involved in the club for a long time. I think the last few weeks we spoke about it with them people and we know how much it means to all them and we'll be trying to mirror that on the pitch for the last year.
How is the pre-season preparation going for Bohemians?
Obviously this stadium is iconic. Some of the jerseys Bob's been throwing out in the last couple of years are fairly iconic already again. The one you have on at the moment, is it a nice kit to wear?
Yeah, it's the first time I'm wearing it as a full kit, but it's obviously nice. It's different, it's old-fashioned, but yeah, it's nice anyway.
The away one's a bit less old-fashioned, it's a bit more of a modern twist, the kneecap one. Yeah, yeah. Do you maybe have in your head there might be extra eyes on you when you see that kid around the place? I mean, I'm speaking from a personal level. I was in Europe in the summer and I saw people wearing Bo's Fontaine's kit out in Poland. And they weren't Irish.
Yeah, I said to myself, look, sometimes you're in airports and you see the jerseys and you're thinking, how did they get over here? Yeah, I think we don't look too much into it as players anyway. It's just another kit. But obviously it helps if they're nice. You can wear them and enjoy wearing them, yeah.
Some of the players you've brought in this season, Sadio Diallo is going to be playing in Midfield alongside you. Have you seen much of him so far in training?
Yeah, he's obviously come in the last week and I've seen enough of him over the last two or three years to know how good of a player he is. We're really happy with adding him to the squad. He creates a healthy competition there and you want to have the best players playing in your team.
What is the significance of playing at Aviva Stadium this season?
He's been one of the best players in the league the last few years, so we're really happy to have him on board.
