Really, so we're here at Talla Stadium ahead of Sunday's Cup final, place you'll be very familiar with. How do you feel going into the week?
Yeah, really excited, um, great occasion, um one of the biggest obviously within the league and for the the club to get here again is is is massive.
And on that, you've been you took over at the end of May. How's your time as that long time manager, your first managerial job? How's that gone?
Yeah, brilliant. Yeah, it's been it's been better than expected to be honest. I've loved every minute. It doesn't feel like a job. Um it's my passion, I love it, obsessed with football and for me the most pleasing thing is is seeing kind of the the improvement in our performances and seeing the players and you know they've been superb since the minute I've come in. Um they've really jumped on board with what we're trying to achieve and I think the results speak for themselves and yeah, we're heading into this final with with so much confidence. I believe.
And how are you doing yourself? You know, you obviously the way started the year went, it wasn't brilliant but do y have you recovered? Are you do you think you'll ever? Yeah, I mean it's still crazy. Yeah, I mean it's still crazy.
I still you know, I go to bed at night sometimes think I can't believe I'm in this position. I I should probably just be at a club and rehabbing and back ready to play football again. Um but here I am. Um but yeah, listen, I I'll never say never I've you know, I wanna play football again. That was always the plan. I wanted to go to the World Cup of Ireland in twenty seven and and wear that jersey again. That's, you know, my pride and joy and something I worked so hard. to get back to. Um but I'm here um and this is my focus and you know I've loved every minute of it and I I I can't wait again for for the weekend and to s to see kind of the the steps that we've taken and you know, it's a massive sacrifice for me to come over here and take this job but again it's it's paid off absolutely.
And you've won the last nine games. That must be unbelievable to go into a game like this.
Yeah, like I said, we we're we're really confident, um, not just in the results but actually our performances and and the football we're playing and you know, we we always seem to find a way. Um, you know, we're really together and our mentality is is team first and you can see that in the performances, everyone's battling for each other from minute one all the way through and yeah, the results are them following. Uh
And on that, Michelle's drew one oh earlier on the season, um, and then the presidents go obviously before your time. How would you, you know, take away things like that from that game? Um, assess that game going into us. sorry going to this Sunday's final.
Yeah, I mean Chelsea are a good team. We know that. They've been to lots of finals themselves and when I first came over that game was pretty early on and I watched a lot of their games and and thought, Oh, they're a good footballing team. I can see what they're trying to do and lots of their patterns I I liked and thought, oh you know, a very good team.
