Hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Koei Gig Podcast. Captain McNamy here with you to look at everything that happened over the weekend in The WSL, but also uh everything that's happening here at home at the moment, because there has been lots of Irish news on the football front. We of course have the cup final coming up this weekend. We had the news during the week that Brian Sorneson, the former Everton manager and current technical advisor with Aston Villa Women, is going to be joining Carla Ward's setup as an assistant manager. And we also had the news that Dublin had missed out on the twenty twenty nine Champions League final to Cardiff. Joining me to look at this and everything else is Scarlett Heron and Karen Duggan.

All good. Looking forward to a big weekend on the domestic front. Um, we kinda haven't brought it into focus yet, so good to look forward to that one.
Yeah, a massive weekend and I saw as well just before I uh logged on there that Scarlett you've started a bit of a a bit of a trend of rovers people heading over towards Hibbs. There's some rumors this evening that Stephen Bradley may be following in your footsteps.
Yeah, I just seen that actually on the way home. Um I think like it's it's a mad one. But it might be like a it might be a natural next step for him because I don't know, obviously it's been a weird run in. It's probably the first title race the men's side have got since Shell's won it a few years ago. So um obviously rovers have a really disappointing season in Europe and everything. So it might be a a natural next step from maybe he's taking rovers as far as he can, like he's obviously been there for years and years now. So Yeah, it'd be interesting to see what happens in the next few days. Yes, we'll be getting all our gossip
off you if that is the case. At the moment it's obviously just sourced information, but handy to have the likes of yourself over there, friendly face, should he make the move. Uh so. As Karen said there, uh it's something that we haven't put a whole lot of of focus on as of yet, but it is a very big weekend domestically here. We have the cup final this weekend, we have Atlone on the verge of winning another league title and a lots lots to discuss, we shall say. Karen, has the season unfolded largely the way you expected, or do you think there'd be a bit more of a challenge?
Um, I was hoping there'd be more of a challenge, but um in fairness, when I saw that Athlone brought back in Dana Sheriff to replace Kelly Brady and that they signed Noel Murray and you know, that they kind of have the pull there and that international pull um is really, really strong for them and continues to be. I did see them as favourites. Um for a long time there I thought Galway wo this would be the year that Galway might push on. So it's just unfortunate that them and Shells just in the last couple of weeks have kind of fallen off a cliff edge, which is not great timing for them going into the cup final. But then again, um form does go out a little bit when it comes to cup finals, um as I have found out the hard way many time.
But look, it's it's one of those ones Shells and Athlone is the the kind of rivalry now in terms of just um the strongest teams in the league. So I always think that it is a good advertisement for the league when when that happens. Um because obviously it's probably the most most watched game mm in the domestic season. So uh I'm looking forward to it.
Yeah, it should be great. And the good news as well is that you can actually listen to live comms of the game on off the ball.
