Welcome along to this week's edition of the LOI Wrap-Up. I'm Ross Fanagan. On today's episode, Rovers stunted and loud, Sligo gained survival hopes, mixed results in Europe and a big Sunday ahead. But first, Shamrock Rovers struggled to extend their lead at the top of the table further as they came away from Sullivan and Lampark with just a point following a nil-all draw with Drodda United. Rovers came close on many occasions but couldn't get the breakthrough. The frustrated Hoops were reduced to 10 men at the very end of the game as Captain Pico Lopez was sent off for a tackle on Shane Farrell. Stephen Doyle was alongside Owen Heary for a live and exclusive commentary last night and spoke to Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley following the draw.
The Hoops manager spoke highly of new signing Will Fitzgerald.

Delighted with him. I really am. You knew he'd bring that to the team and the club and he has. He's straight into the team there. He's only trained one day with us and he gets it straight away. Clever player. He's gutted inside that he hasn't scored in the second half. He feels he should score that and that he's in on goal. But his performance was why we wanted him here. Left, right. He's so comfortable. So much quality. And he's a real leader and we've seen that tonight.

Boys, it's just the way sometimes things are framed, like about the 1-10, which is factually true. But we'd won two of our last three and got a draw away to Sligo, who were playing well, who went to Dundalk tonight and got a good point. We've drawn with the champions. I'm not saying we are absolutely flying, but again, compared to a couple of years ago, we're way ahead of what we were at this time. Last year, obviously, the expectation completely changes. Not amongst us, but outside and even some probably people here. But we know what we are and we'll always have to try and punch. And to be fair, there's no one better at doing it than us.

The league is very, very competitive. Even the points between us and a few spaces ahead, everything's really tight. It's really competitive. That's why I said it's important. Today we got a draw. In the other match last night, Sligo Rovers struck late to boost their survival chances as they drew 1-1 against Dundalk in Oriel Park. The Lady Whites went 1-1 up early into the second half through Captain Dyer-Hogan but it was laid on when the bit of red levelled it, with youngster Garrett McElroy scoring in the injury time. In just his second game in charge, Sligo managed to arm purse back to LOITV following the draw.
