What immediate health changes occur within the first 20 minutes of quitting smoking?
Have you ever asked yourself the following question? What happens to my body after I quit smoking? That's what I want to talk about today, because so many of the amazing people who joined my four-week hypnosis coaching program for smoking cessation, they wanted to quit smoking because they wanted to live a healthier life. They finally wanted to get rid of their cough and They wanted to be able to smell again, to taste again, and they had a big vision for their future. A future where they didn't want to experience a stroke or a heart attack because of their unhealthy habit of smoking cigarettes. And I truly believe that if you put meaning to something, if you become aware of the meaning that your journey of quitting smoking actually has for you, and if you also then allow yourself to realize how fast
these changes can happen. This will motivate you, inspire you, and it will also help you in these moments when it's so easy to relapse, when it's so easy to say, ah, let's just have one cigarette, to remind yourself of what truly happens in your body when you quit smoking. Because that's when we place meaning on the whole journey of you giving up cigarettes for good. So here's what happens to your body when you quit smoking. Yes, believe it or not, there is one health benefit that according to research happens within 20 minutes of quitting. Because if you don't smoke for 20 minutes, this alone allows your body to regulate your heart rate and your blood pressure. So in other words, within 20 minutes of quitting,
your heart rate goes down and your blood pressure goes down. And this is something that for me, when I did the research for this episode, was truly fascinating. I thought to myself, okay, the first positive impact on your body might happen after a week or two. I had no idea that it actually happens within one day. So if that doesn't motivate you, then I don't know what will motivate you.
How does carbon monoxide reduction after eight hours improve oxygen levels and sexual performance?
But just in case this first scientific fact didn't motivate you because you say to yourself, yeah, but what if I start again after one hour? Then I haven't quit smoking. Yep, that's right. But now we're going to go even deeper into it. So what happens after eight hours? After eight hours, your carbon monoxide levels in the blood decrease, which allows oxygen levels to return to normal. And this is actually something that I experienced with quite a few of my male coaching clients that they reported to me that after just one or two days of quitting smoking, their wives and girlfriends were very happy because their erection quality improved. So if, for example, you are a man listening to this episode right now, and you're suffering from erectile dysfunction, an improvement in this area, because the oxygen levels can go back to normal, and therefore the blood can flow freer in your body, this can have an immediate one-day effect.
I don't say that it's guaranteed, but I've experienced it with clients who shared that with me, that it can have a one-day effect, in this case scientifically proven in about eight hours, when it comes to your sexual performance, because the carbon monoxide levels in your blood decrease, which allows oxygen levels to return to normal, which can then lead to better blood flow, and also better blood flow in certain areas, if you know what I mean. And now this leads me to point number three that I want to talk about. And that's a more negative aspect that we can't deny. And that's that nicotine withdrawal symptoms typically peak within one to three days after quitting. And common symptoms include irritability, anxiety and cravings.
But don't worry, this is also something that we will handle in the 4-week hypnosis coaching program for smoking cessation. I will give you techniques and different exercises that you can use to minimize these withdrawal symptoms. And I also shared quite a few of them in different episodes. So now what happens at the two-week mark? At the two-week mark, circulation improves and lung function begins to increase, which makes it easier for you to enjoy physical activities.
