What is the inner voice that keeps us stuck and how does it affect our confidence?
The biggest bully in your life isn't someone on the internet or your boss or your critics or your cranky neighbor. It's the voice inside your own head. The one that whispers don't embarrass yourself. You're probably gonna fail. They're judging you. You look weird. Who do you think you are? Someone else could do this better. You're not doing enough. You will never change. And the unfortunate and tragic thing is that most people never question that voice. They assume because they thought it it must be true. But I'm here to remind you today that your thoughts uh thoughts aren't facts. There's suggestions. Some of them are helpful. Some are protective and some are Quite honestly, just completely made up and false.
I want to teach you one of the most powerful mindset and confidence skills you can have. And it's how to question your thoughts, how to take captive your thoughts, how to look at a thought neutrally and decide, does this serve me? Does this not? And how to stop listening to the voice that is keeping you stuck and instead start talking back. Let's get into it. Manage your mind better and your life better. When you manage your mind, your life changes. These are tools that I wish I had had 15 years ago. And it's why I'm so passionate about the work that I do and the and the work that I share here. So we are talking about something that's near and dear to my heart. It's self-talk. My self-talk used to be so tragically destruct destructive. Like you would have thought if you knew me in my twenties, uh, teens and twenties, you'd be like, oh, she's so happy, she's so positive, she's so upbeat. And yet А возле бігист. Bully. to myself I if you had any if anyone had been A fly on a wall in my head. It would have been tragic what you heard. The self-critical voice, the negative self-talk.
It was self-talk that kept me stuck. And I didn't know at the time that there was an option to stop it. I just thought that's just how I talked to myself. This is just how it is. I didn't even know how to distinguish my inner voice from and question and challenge it. So if this is new to you, welcome. It's it's never too late to learn these skills. And you're never too young to learn them either. I am teaching. And if you want tools, by the way, we have a new uh resource for kids on reframing and talking back to your thoughts. You can get that at Trish Blackwell.com forward slash kids. I made this for my kids. They're playing cards, there's workbooks, uh, how to teach this at age appropriate levels.
Why does our brain sound convincing when it’s actually lying to us?
But let's start with first teaching it and mastering it ourselves, shall we? Your brain. First, let's understand a few things. Your brain's job is to protect you. And so it thinks it's it's hyper-vigilant to be constantly scanning for problems and for protecting you from socially embarrassing yourself in case you would get outcast, right? But in the world that we live in today, the brain doesn't need to be doing that. But it's programmed and tr and and and designed by bio biology that way that to is constantly.
