What is the atmosphere like at Raymond James Stadium for the Stadium Series?
We're here in Tampa, Florida at Raymond James Stadium. Another outdoor game. The ice might melt. It could be historic or it could be chaos.
This is the Hockey Show.
David Drucker, the Hockey News is right here. Ethan and Rosie is in the studio. I'm Roy Bellamy. We are in Tampa for Stadium Series. This is the Hockey Show. You can watch us on YouTube at the Hockey Show DLS. We're on TikTok at the Hockey Show 7 and on Instagram and threads at Hockey Show DLS. As I said, we are in Tampa and we got a look at the forecast and it said snow flurries. Like, that's crazy. I don't think it's going to actually snow, but it is going to be interesting here.
What changes have been made to the NHL's discipline process?
It's cool. I mean, look, I think I mentioned it the other day on X, like the hockey gods aren't only smiling at Tampa, but they're kind of laughing at us right now because it's not just cold. It's Florida cold. It's really cold. It's going to get down potentially into the 30s over the next couple of nights. So definitely fortunate because as we saw down in Miami, like they got amazing weather for the Winter Classic down there. Couldn't have asked for better. So, yeah, it's... It's pretty awesome how it's all working out for the NHL and these outdoor games here in Florida.
What do you say is going to be the main difference that's going to happen between when a classic and stadium series outside of the location?
What do you think is going to happen? I think it's just going to feel... different because it's a much bigger stadium. It's more open. There's going to be a lot more fans, probably going to be a lot noisier.
How are the Florida Panthers coping with recent losses?
The fact that they've had to build the ice under this massive tent behind us just to make sure that whatever weather inclement might happen didn't impact the ice build, but it's just really cool. The way that they're building it on a giant pirate map, I think it's really neat. So there's just a lot that after they blew me away with my expectations for the Winter Classic, my bar is significantly raised for this one, and I really think they're going to kill it.
Have you guys been to the ice already or you haven't been able to see it?
No, we literally just got here for the recording of the hockey show. We haven't gone down to see any of the build. I don't know if we'll be able to go down to see any of the build. We might get thrown out of here. So that's a good question, Rosie.
We're going to have to ask some questions. You think we're going to get thrown out of here? I think if we do what we were talking about and try just sneaking down there with our skates, somebody might grab us by the back of our collar and Fred Flintstone us out the window. But we got to try. Right. Like, it's so unique, so cool.
What updates can we expect from Rosa in Un Minuto?
We got to see if there's some way if we can get down there.
All right. So we're going to figure it out. But it looks beautiful out there. The sun is out. It is chilly. It's I don't know if we got the 50 degrees yet, but it's a bit chilly, but it's better than New York. It is a disaster up there, a whole bunch of snow and such. I found this interesting. This happened, apparently. The National Hockey League is not issuing supplemental discipline anymore. That task has been sent over to the Department of Players' Safety. So George Perelson and boys are going to take over handing out fines and suspensions for everything that's in the rulebook. Now, the fans have not been happy with the DPS situation. the way they've been handling things as far as the physical aspect of the rulebook, as far as boarding and illegal checks to the head.
What are the wins and fails of the week in the NHL?
They have not been happy because some issues have been skirted. Others have been, I guess, either rightfully or not rightfully been supplemented. There's been discipline for that. So what do you think of this move and
Is it going to get any better? What are we talking about here? You'd like to think that if they're making a change, that there's a plan behind it with how it's going to be different and why. I think as you talk about a lot of what people have been frustrated with, as you know, we're in person in the press box right now.
