What’s the opening rundown and the week‑one NFL recap?
This is an iHeart Podcast. Guaranteed human.
Why should you listen to Armstrong and Getty on demand?
We're not boring. A lot of news is boring. And tedious. And depressing. And makes you angry. You don't want to live your life like that. Hey, I'm Jack Armstrong. He's Joe Getty. We're Armstrong and Getty. We try to bring you the truth. And help you figure out this crazy modern world.
How about something about a comedic tone? Ha ha!
Have a winner. Yes. Listen to Armstrong and Getty on demand on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Final hour on this Pizza Wednesday. Dylan doing the honors with the menu. We'll get to that coming up. Stat of the Day is always brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. Good morning if you're watching the program. You get to see all of this. You know, sometimes growing up, I didn't know what somebody looked like. I'd listen on the radio, and then all of a sudden, you know, you'd hear that expression, you've got a face for radio. And I've been told that before. Oh. oh, okay, you look different than I thought you would. I'm thinking, wait, did you watch SportsCenter or Football Night in America or the Olympics? Usually what I get is, oh, you're taller in person.
Never better looking than I thought, but just taller. But growing up, you hear the voices, and then all of a sudden in your mind you go, boy, what does Todd look like? Or Dylan? Marvin? What do his hands look like? Who is this big day Ray sitting in Paul's chair for the final hour? You can answer all those questions. Go to Peacock or NBC Sports now. 877-3DP-SHOW. Email address dp at danpatrick.com. Twitter handle at dpshow. Notre Dame, primetime Saturday night against Michigan State. The Irish hosting the Spartans, Sparty, in South Bend, Saturday 7 Eastern on NBC and Peacock. We met a wonderful woman, a lot of great people in South Bend. And Marvin, could you give an update on what we found out about the person who was so helpful with us in South Bend and at least her name and what she's been going through?
Can we mention that?
Yes, when we went to Notre Dame for the Notre Dame-USC game last fall, we were taken around by a great woman named Shelby. She worked for Notre Dame in the athletics department. Unbelievable. Super impressive. Yes. Super impressive. And she revealed that she had stage 3 breast cancer. And so we just want to send her well wishes and hopefully a very speedy recovery because she was unbelievable. Yes. Shelby Carroll.
Yes.
Her parents did a great job with her because she is very impressive, and that's where you kind of come away. Sometimes you'll meet people, and they're in certain jobs, and you're going, boy, they're destined for big things. And Shelby, very impressive. But Marvin found that out, and I know that you stayed in contact with some people at South Bend. So thank you for sharing, and we wish her nothing but the best. Positive thoughts there. Final hour poll question, Dylan, what do you have for me today?
Well, I got an array of them from Todd this morning. Okay. We've obviously been talking about what's the significance of week one in the NFL? How much do you read into it? And then Todd's obviously a little slanted because his team got crushed, but the question is, my favorite NFL team played poorly in week one, and I'm still very upset. In the process of putting it behind me or completely over it, we're on to week two. And what's the best sort of course of action?
Well, you've got to be on to week two. I mean, really, I'm going to wait until the end of September where I get a better sense of if Belichick and the Patriots waited until September to really kind of figure out their season and their team, then I'll, out of respect, do that to the rest of these teams. You know, the Rams, all of a sudden there's panic everywhere. Okay, I would hold off on that. But the Miles Garrett situation, now Aaron Donald's not a luxury. Now he's a necessity. That's what I want to know.
