Last week I pointed out how Trump and Musk are screwing over our veterans and their families, and don't get me wrong, it's still happening. The Trump administration promised that their cuts wouldn't hurt critical VA services, but of course we all know that that was bullshit. Just this week we found out that their cuts have already disrupted things like studies involving patients awaiting experimental cancer treatments, They forced some facilities to fire support staff, mass cancellations of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contracts that actually help veteran services like PTSD treatments.
It's freaking outrageous, and it's the biggest FU ever to our veterans who've already served this country. But it doesn't stop there. There's a new target this week. Their focus now is decimating our Department of Education. So it went from veterans to kids. Well, that's just great.

So let's talk about this administration's priorities now, shall we? Because once again, Donald Trump and his band of shameless assholes have shown us exactly where their priorities are. And it sure as hell isn't with kids or students or teachers or with hardworking Americans trying to get by in an increasingly unstable economy. So don't let them bullshit you that this is all about waste, fraud and abuse because it's not. Okay, while millions of kids, educators, and their families now brace for the devastating impact of these latest doge cuts to the Department of Education, Trump and Musk were hosting a tacky, taxpayer-funded car lot expo at the White House this week, rolling out the red carpet for Elon Musk's failing stock company, Tesla.
Why? Well, because Musk is Donald Trump's biggest donor. The guy put almost $300 million of his own money to get Trump elected. You think he did that out of the goodness of his heart? Trump was directly reading from a Tesla sales pitch, for God's sakes. I was just waiting for like the scantily clad women to come out and stand in front of the vehicles like some cheap late night infomercial. Okay, I mean, this event wasn't about jobs or innovation or like the American worker. No, it was a freaking political favor. It was payback. What a slap in the face to every single teacher, student, everyone about to feel the pain of these disastrous cuts. So let me be crystal clear here about what these latest doge cuts to the Department of Education actually mean.
Now, even before the layoffs, the Department of Education was the smallest cabinet-level agency. Its workforce actually included like 3,100 people in D.C., about an additional 1,100 in the regional offices around the country. That's according to their website. But now, regional offices are being shuttered all over the country, from Dallas to San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, just to name a few. That's according to NBC News. So it's not just bureaucrats that are losing their jobs here. It's special education programs losing their funding. It's teachers already stretched thin, losing critical support staff. It's schools in rural neighborhoods and low-income communities that are already feeling despair.
It's kids that are disabled and they need their training professionals. They're getting left behind. There aren't enough people to help them. It's local school districts losing essential federal funding that helps keep these schools running. It pays for books, supplies, crucial after-school programs that working families rely on. Now, this is an assault on our education system at a time when American students are already struggling post-pandemic. And the people losing their jobs, these are career professionals dedicated to ensuring that our kids get the education they deserve. What are we doing here? Now, let's also not forget what this means for people with student loans. I'm one of them. The Department of Education isn't just about K through 12 education.
