What is the focus of the Huddle Up episode and who are the hosts?
Welcome to Huddle Up. Jaguar senior writer John Osher and NFL network analyst and former Jaguar Bucky Brooks bring you the latest on your Jacksonville Jaguars. Huddle Up starts right now. All right. Welcome into Huddle Up with Bucky Brooks. I'm John Osher from the Hyundai Studios in Jacksonville at the Miller Electric Center. Bucky Brooks, as always, I'm assuming is in Los Angeles.
Bucky,
we're in week one, buddy. We're in week one.
It's finally here. We finally get to talk about real ball, not preseason. The games count. And so there's a lot on the line for the Jaguars taking on the Cleveland Browns this weekend.
I always am struck by how much you feel the energy change. Um, and I, I guess it's, you almost never get used to it, even though, you know, it's coming. And I think you've generally really feel it. I've always said you feel it in that first quarter and the third quarter that you're of that opener when you're watching it. And I always get this sensation of, oh, this is so much different than regular season. I mean, than preseason. I mean, it looks realer. And there are years I get a sensation, Bucky, of I got fooled again. Meaning I forgot how different the offseason and preseason games are because you see teams running the ball. You see teams just bringing
more.
You see guys who, veterans who know how to prepare and get through preseason. They ain't doing that anymore. They're playing. And it's just a different, it's professional football. And I get all this is obvious, but you just feel it so much week one.
Yeah, you do feel it. John, I remember coming into the league and they talked about there are four different speeds when it comes to playing. There's preseason, there's regular season, there's postseason, and then there's Super Bowl.
And every
time you step up a notch, the game gets faster and more physical. And we have heard the Jaguars talk about playing with the level of violence and unleashing that violence on their foes. When
they're on
the regular season, that's when you begin to really see that. You talk about running through the man when it comes to making contact. You talk about finishing your blocks with a lot of force. You talk about finishing your runs, falling forward.
All of
that matters. And so you will see a different urgency than we've seen during preseason and in training camp, because now it really matters. And when you only get 17 opportunities, Yeah, you better bring your A game each and every week out.
Yeah, we're going to talk a lot about physicality in the next segment, but Huddle Up with Bucky Brooks is brought to you by Fields Auto Group Jacksonville. See Fields first, Jacksonville's premier luxury auto group. Go to fieldsauto.com. Bucky, the first thing I want to do is just get an overall look at this team heading into week one. We haven't talked since a couple weeks ago. Team's been cut. You saw three preseason games, all of that. They play their reserves all through preseason, which I think, you know, buckle up on that regard because that's what teams are going to increasingly do. It's clearly Liam Cohen's philosophy, focused on the joint practices. To you, Bucky, and maybe you can't really tell because you weren't at the joint practices, but how ready does this team feel?
I'll throw it up to you, the analyst, to discuss that as we start.
Yeah, it seems like they're ready to go. And it seems like that first joint practice session against the Saints was a wake-up call. I would liken it to getting a little water splashed in your face, understanding the different levels that you have to go to when you're facing another team.
How do the hosts describe the jump in speed and intensity from preseason to Week 1?
And then we heard... resounding sounds of dominance when it came to the way that those joint practices looked against the Panthers in terms of the physicality. And the same thing was said when they later took on the Tampa Buccaneers.
This team certainly
understands how they want to play and who they are when it comes to the physicality and toughness. But now it's taking it up a notch because the team that is coming in, regardless of what people will say about the record, the one thing that has always been talked about when it comes to the Cleveland Browns is their physicality and toughness.
