How did the Jaguars turn their season around from last year?
J.P. Shadrick, Jeff Lagerman. GM James Gladstone, EVP Tony Buscelli, live in studio with us ahead of the AFC wildcard playoff game. The Buffalo Bills making their seventh straight playoff appearance. The Jaguars turning it around from 13 losses a year ago, now division champions with 13 wins in the 2025 campaign. Good afternoon, gentlemen. A lot going on this week, playoff game. James, you're fired up. How are you?

What challenges do the Jaguars face against the Buffalo Bills?
It's a blast. I mean... Not all that different than any other week. Obviously, the intent is to go 1-0, and there's been a lot of focus here since Monday at turning the page to the Buffalo Bills and a good week of prep to date. And I know our fan base, as it should be, is showing signs of sort of building up for the kickoff that will be on Sunday. And I know our players are doing the same and taking it one day at a time, making sure that when the whistle blows, we'll be giving a good product. Fun times, Tony.
Oh, it's great. This is what you do all the work for. I mean, Jeff will tell you as a player, you put all the work in through off-season camp. It's a long, regular season. Obviously, every game is important. But then you get this opportunity to get in the playoffs, and you don't know how many chances you're going to have. And one of my biggest memories is in 96 when we made the playoffs the first time. I was a second-year player, so I was like, oh, making the playoffs. But I remember guys like Jeff and some of the veterans who had never made the playoffs before. And it was like, it means something. Because there's organizations that haven't been to the playoffs in a long time. And we have players that are getting their first opportunity to go play in a playoff game.
And it's what you work for.
How do the Jaguars prepare for the playoff game against the Bills?
But at the same time, what James said is exactly right. You've got to go play the game. It's the same mentality. The fun thing is if you look at the message that has been communicated throughout this year, it's like, hey, let's go 1-0. And so it's consistent. It's no different. It's, hey, here's the next opportunity. Let's go play our style of game. It's about us. And our players have done a great job of kind of living that message week in and week out and looking forward to watch them go out and play against a very good Buffalo team. A team that you talked about has been in the playoffs multiple years in a row, have a great coaching staff, great players, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. And so this is a group that is seasoned.
They're used to these opportunities. They're used to this environment. And it'll be a great challenge for us.
I remember when we were players in 96 and we got the chance to go to the playoffs, one of the first things that we started talking about was, man, we get paid for this too? Because, I mean, in reality, we would have played for free. Now, when we found out when we got paid, it was like, okay, that makes it even funner. But the reality is I would have done it for free. I would have done the playoffs for free every year.
What is the significance of playoff experience for the Jaguars?
Yeah, this stage is certainly one that's memorable for anybody that steps on it. And the cool part from where I sit is this stage has also been created by those who are taking it. These players have done a phenomenal job since we arrived. And they've put themselves in a position to deserve an Op, like the one that they're faced with in front of them. And I look forward to them being able to showcase what they got.
The reality is that as much as you like to say that it's like any other game, I think in a lot of ways it's not.
