How did Rhys describe his Birmingham trip and weather experience?
sweltering London it's 25 in glorious Glasgow 35 in Jacksonville but Jacksonville actually has a beach and this is Teal Talk in partnership with Gallagher I'm Jay Lawrence still no relation
Hello, Rhys Parkinson. Jay, it is 25 in Birmingham. Not that I'm there now, but I just was. But I feel like we have to give some representation to the weather in Birmingham since we've had a weekend in Birmingham.
Oh, absolutely. How much was there a big sweaty, sweaty Rhys Parkinson then throughout the weekend?
One day it was really nice on the Friday. It was good. Saturday morning started raining. Fez. And then kind of the beautiful Bourbon sun just erupted. At about 11.
And then you thought, I need a cold flannel.
Need a cold flannel, a couple of towels, Jackson DeVille hugging me and being incredibly, well, Union Jack, sorry, hugging me and being sweaty. So a weekend of sweat.
Well, that's right, because you were in Birmingham. You were hanging out for a couple of days with members of the Roar of the Jaguars. You were launching a new initiative. You were watching some Jag Tag. All that to come on the show today. Ticket news for the Jags-Eagles game as well at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Plus, Rhys, your conversation with the Jags cheerleaders as well. I've not heard this conversation yet. How was it?
How was the whole thing? They were great. We had Maya and Emily from the Raw and they were just awesome. They had so much energy and I couldn't believe how much they were in awe of Birmingham and Dudley. No offense to Birmingham and Dudley, but... What were they saying? Well, their reaction was kind of one you'd expect if they were maybe visiting Bali or the Bahamas. They were kind of like, it's just so nice here. It's so much history, such rich culture. They're not wrong. I have never met a British person who has said that about Birmingham. I love it. I've got love for Birmingham. But I'll be honest, it's very rare that you hear someone who's from the UK say, this place just is, oh, it's just so refreshing, just has such a rich feel about it.
So that was nice. Nice to Birmingham to get a little bit of love. Someone to appreciate the ball ring.
Were they saying Birmingham or were they saying Birmingham? Both. Just to be fair, you know, we say Jaguars, you know, Jaguars, I suppose as well. So I get it. All right, let's go on to team matters. Loads to talk about in this summertime edition of Teal Talk, actually. It's not often that we lead off with. Ooh, long snapper news. Ross Matysik has re-signed an excellent fellow, outstanding long snapper. Money, money, money. He's going to be with the Jags for years to come. Well worth taking time to express our delight at his stay with the Jags. What's your experience with Ross Matysik, Rhys?
Legend. Legend. Simple. Legend. He's been on the UK Players Tour before. Amazing human, amazing person, incredibly down to earth. A good guy, true professional. Just brilliant at what he does. We were talking about him in Birmingham over the weekend. There's a... I won't be able to get the exact stat, but basically because he played linebacker, I want to say in college or high school, he is an interesting stat. Out of all the long snappers, he's got the most tackles in the league. I love it. What a great stat. What an awesome stat. So he's got the most tackles out of any long snapper in the NFL. And I think... It's kind of like, I would say even more, it's the most unforgiving position, potentially. Obviously, QB, kicker, you can argue.
I see what you're saying, yeah, yeah.
But, you know, I feel like with a kicker, with Cam Little... you you're thinking it's in it's guaranteed let's say an extra point maybe not feel good but extra point oh yeah come on cam score you don't even think about the long snapper you you don't even think about what no one says oh what a great snap what if yes or or what if you messes this up you think what if the kicker misses so um but you only you only ever hear it if it's a bad snap and look
I haven't, I can't, without looking back at the last six years worth of snaps that Ross has taken, I'm going to have to assume that producer Simon is correct on this and saying that he has never had a bad snap in the NFL.
