Why do working moms feel too busy to pursue their dreams?

Tamara 0:00
Friend, I wanna talk to you about the dream you're not letting yourself have because you think you can't. You know, that one w that you maybe have been putting on the back burner for a couple of years. Maybe it's to write a book or start a side hustle or maybe just getting stronger in your body again. And somewhere along the way you looked at that dream and then you looked at your actual life with the school drop offs and the naps that may or may not happen and you quietly closed the tab on that dream. Not because you stopped wanting it, but because you decided you're just too busy. that life is just too unpredictable and that someday your life will calm down and you can come back to it. Well today, my friend, I am going to tell you how you can stay consistent with the things that you want to do while also staying consistent with the things that you have to do.

Hello my friends and welcome back to another episode of the Balance It Method podcast. I'm your host, Tamara, and today we are getting into goals.
Tamara 1:38
And before we even begin, some of you have just already tuned out because you're the mom out there who is just trying to get through the day. And goals just seem like something extra that you just don't even want to think about taking on.

How does the host redefine consistency beyond willpower?

Tamara 1:54
But maybe there is something that's been calling you that you wish you had the time to do. And in this episode today, I'm gonna talk to you about how you can actually learn to be consistent with a goal or a dream that you might be having while also not dropping balls in the rest of the areas of your life. And this was totally my understanding. Understanding. in the very beginning when I before I started the balance it method, I kind of knew I wanted to grow my my cleaning business. I wanted to expand it um and create um something digital for people to be able to use. But everything was so busy. Everything felt chaotic all the time. I didn't know up from down half of the time. And so I sort of just made peace with the idea that this is just not possible right now.
Tamara 2:50
You know, life is just too busy with little kids and things were too chaotic. And I thought, you know, someday when things calm down, I will get around to that. And if I could go back in time The only thing I would tell myself is that things are not going to calm down on their own. You have to do something to calm the tides as they're coming in. And if you're somebody waiting for a season that isn't really coming and every month that you put off the thing that you want to do is another month that you're behind where you could be.

What role do everyday habits play in building a consistency system?

Tamara 3:27
And the biggest thing that I've learned through all of this is that It doesn't take a certain personality type to be able to have everything under control. It doesn't take a supernaturally disciplined person to have all of these things going on in their life and not feeling chaotic about it. That is something that can be learned and that is what I am here to support you with. So I wanna start off here by really reframing consistency. Because I think that we think that consistency, being consistent with something, is either you're a person that is consistent or you're a person that's not consistent. And that you have to be totally disciplined. And if you're not totally disciplined and rigid and structured, then you cannot be consistent.
Tamara 4:19
And that is a lie. Consistency is not about willpower or discipline. discipline. It is about having less putting making decisions that will take away barriers to you being able to accomplish the thing that you want to accomplish.
