Yeah, thank you to Jeff Blair for for allowing uh show to somewhat get to get home a little bit earlier. I know that these are long days for you. We were just talking, we're both a little sleep deprived at the moment. Game starting a little bit later. We still need to be here, obviously, for for this. But it is a little bit easier to not only stay up late but also wake up in the morning when these are the types of games that we get to talk about. The Blue Jay's doing a lot of stuff. Right, and obviously Dalton Varsho leading the way so far this series uh against the Rockies. Two home runs yesterday, one home run, or two, yeah, two home runs yesterday, one home run in the series opener. It was kind of a slow start for him after that uh or during that Royals series, I should say, back from the injured list.
But this is Dalton Barschau, and it's looking a lot like the last time he came back, where basically it It seemed like he was hitting a home run a game. Now I know that's not true. It's a little bit less than that. He has eleven homers in the season, he's played in twenty eight games, but uh nothing short of really spectacular the way that Dalton Barshow has contributed so far uh against the Rockies here.
Yeah, career high six RBI breaks his previous career high of four. He hits the longest home run of his career with four hundred and sixty-seven foot bomb after hitting a four hundred and fifty foot uh home run the night prior, which I d I hadn't actually realized, but tied a career long the night before. So uh course field looks pretty good for uh Dalton Varsho. If like if things don't go right right for him, he should just sign with the Rocky. And just hit like a you know, hit like a monster there going forward. Uh it is nice seeing the swing, that swing of his. I mean, it's a little shorter, it's a little more compact, right? So he's uh being able to use that that truly prodigious power of his to do the things we've been seeing in the last couple of games, 10 RBI total for Varsho in the last couple of games.
Um again, I mean, it's very pretty to watch. You hope it continues in places. That even with the course field effect He is just simply seeing the ball well. He's punishing mistakes. He's using that compact swing to to put barrels on the ball. Uh so again, like even if four hundred and sixty-seven feet as a number is like a little inflated by hitting in Denver. I mean, like that ball is still going out. Both of those home runs actually are both going out in in most ballparks with like, you know, normal air, quote unquote. Like the Hunter Goodman home run off of Jose Barrick. Like that ball probably doesn't get out of a lot of ballparks, for example, right? For example. But the the Dalton Varsho ones definitely have been.
And uh you mentioned eleven home runs on the season for him now, right? After two uh the other night. Uh Nick Ashbour posed this question to me. You might have this written down. I actually don't know what you have written down, but uh Nick Ashbourne posed this question to me. Uh Jay stalk a classic last night, let's call it. Uh Varsho has twenty four hits on the season. How many do you think of those twenty four hits, how many of them do you think are singles?
Uh yeah, I guess it's easier to go with the smaller number rather than the than the larger one and asking what uh how many extra base hits he has. Okay, so you said twenty five hits?
