How can I start this episode with a calming breath and presence?

Devoney Kodad 0:00
Hey love, welcome to the podcast. So glad that you're here. We made it. We made it. I can imagine that your days are so full and that you have done a million and three point five things today. So I want to encourage you in this moment to just take a second. Take a second. If you are safe to do so. Just take a moment. Take a big breath. And just be here. Be here. Beautiful. Something that I deeply love personally about the fact that my approach to Anxiety, my approach to confidence is not just kind of a secular approach, right? And when I say secular, what that means is um of the world, right? And there is so much phenomenal like wisdom in the world, so much phenomenal wisdom in the world, and I am so grateful that as a believer.
Devoney Kodad 1:07
that when I'm struggling with anxiety, something that I then get to explore is what would God say about this? What would God say to me in this moment? Because I think so much of our world.

Why does relying on my own strength keep anxiety cycles alive?

Devoney Kodad 1:26
Especially if you're a high performer, highly ambitious high performer. Especially as a high performer, you're you're doing all the things. You are doing all the things. You are pushing yourself. You're trying to grow, you're trying to learn, you're managing all your stuff, right? You're doing all the things. And and What's so huge to acknowledge is that as a believer you do not have to do it all by yourself. You do not have to do it all by yourself. You don't have to force things. You don't have to push things to happen. You don't have to force things to happen. So when it comes to heaviness, if you are feeling heavy and tired and stressed, love, I would ask you to take a moment And really ask yourself what would God say to me right now?
Devoney Kodad 2:21
What would the best father, the best heavenly father, the best heavenly parent, what would he say to me right now? And that's something that I am so grateful that as a therapist, as a human, as someone, you know, who just yeah, is living this human experience, I don't have to carry all of that by myself. And I am so grateful, so grateful for that. So I would have you ask, what would God say to me right now? Is there anything that you can set down right now? It's not all on you. And I think there's so much freedom in that, right? There's so much freedom. I actually saw this reel recently, and the girl was like, She was like, you know, when God planned out your life and your purposes, he actually also planned out for your stupid mistakes and choices.
Devoney Kodad 3:14
And I was like, Hallelujah.

What would God say to me right now when anxiety feels overwhelming?

Devoney Kodad 3:16
Huh? Hallelujah, because I you know There's grace, right? Like it's this full release of pressure that like genuinely it is not all on you. You get to be human. And of course we don't take that for granted, right? We don't take that for granted to make awful choices. However, there's grace. There's grace. You can be human. You do not need to carry everything by yourself. Release some of that pressure. To have it all together, to look like you have it all together. Release some of that right now. We do not need more pressure. We do not need that. So I just wanted to share that with you. Just the breath of fresh air, the deep exhale that we get to have as believers on this journey of life and healing and growth and feeling less anxious and owning who you are and embracing the beautiful human that God created you as with your gifts and your talents and your strengths and standing confidently in all of that.
Devoney Kodad 4:24
As you were on that journey, stepping into that, becoming more of the woman you're here to be. You have God's help. God is literally walking with you, beside you, in front of you, guiding you. It's so funny. I was actually reading I've been reading the Bible at night before bed lately and uh last night I was reflecting on how much I deeply love and I'm so curious about this. I wanna do some research, but I deeply love that God taught like in the Bible. There are so many references to having a sure footed step. You will not stumble. Your path will be clear. Your path will be free. You will not your foot will not get trapped, right? Like you will be as sure footed as a deer. There are so many.
