What is the opening theme and sponsor message for Oilers Now?
Hey, it's Bob Stoffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. Hi everybody, Bob Stoffer joining you with Oiders Now brought to you by our title sponsor, Roll the Space. First time I heard that version um was in the last dance with Michael Jordan. And it was uh after his father had passed away and he won the championship the next year, and man oh man, it was just gutting. And it uh it shows you how many uh professional uh and look in Jordan's case we're talking, I would say about the greatest basketball player that's ever lived. Um, but it does show you just, you know, how wrenching it can be, a sense of loss coinciding with a uh sense of a victory.
And I'm hoping we're gonna see uh something similar to that after watching how gutting it was the last two years to see Evanton losing game seven and game six, uh both years down in uh the Sunshine State in Florida. This is Oilers Now. We are in the Play Alberta Broadcast Center, playAlberta dot CA. When you play in Alberta, it stays in Alberta, please play responsibly. We have Cam Moon here from the Oilers Radio Network. Hello, Cam, how you doing? Doing very well. Good. We are going to get to some uh clips from Chris Knobloch, Connor McDavid, uh Andre Maj Yubani, and Stuart Skinner. We're gonna give you the lines that they open up with with it the opening day of uh on a session's training camp as well.
Uh and then as the show goes on today, uh the um former NHL player, a guy that uh was basically kicked out of the National Hockey League due to substance abuse issues, uh has been Brent Myers, he uh co-authored the book Painkiller, which uh went into his various struggles along the way dealing with addiction. Uh so we're gonna hear from uh Brent today. Uh we'll also have Bram Steven on as the uh Spruce Grove Saints of the AJ HL get their season started. I want to put a little bit of a uh shout out to the uh the uh LaCelte group uh that are heavily involved in hockey, they own the Seattle uh Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League. I'm going to tell you this right right now. I believe one day they will own an NHL team.
I believe there's a will there. I think those guys, um and they are guys that believe in business and believe in hard work. And uh, you know, I I I think that they're it headed in the right direction. The Edmonton Oil Kings open up their regular season tomorrow in Red Deer tonight on the show. Edmonton Oil Kings uh head coach more Edmonton Oilers captain, J. Yeah. We will tell you that the River Cree Resort Casino hotline is 780451 8800. It's brought to you by the River Cree Resort Casino. for more information. Cab, you've had a long day be and a long day with me. Uh because we were up at uh six thirty leaving downtown Edmonton. We went to uh go see Uncle Milt's Rotary Club in uh the fine uh community of Niscu, Alberta at Blackjacks, which I may have occasionally frequented over the years. Uh yes, uh maybe Well it
looks like your kind of place. Yeah, my
kind of place. I I I may have slid in there a couple times uh after we landed, uh maybe from two thousand eight to about two thousand twelve. So it was great seeing everybody there, great seeing 'em we uh told a few stories, had a great time with people there. And I also want to at this time, uh of course Uncle Milt was involved for years with our friends at Brent Ridge Ford, and uh a shout out to uh Trent Wilhawk from Wilhawk Beat Jerky. Uh only available in LA, Leduc, Alberta Trent sent a care package for a number of us as I went out to go see him today. And uh he came through once again. He's a he's a great fan of the Edmonton Letters and uh a big uh supporter of this show and this station, so always much appreciated.
