Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Hey, it's Bob Stauffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime. All right, welcome back, everybody. It is 4.34 in oil country.
We talked a bit yesterday with both Craig McTavish and Frank Cervelli about the Edmonton Oilers' situation in the early exit first round of the playoffs after going to the seventh and sixth game of the Stanley Cup Finals. By the way, I'm not quite sure what P.K. Subban was talking about the fact that the Oilers weren't close. It's funny how guys see things differently.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I guess. I mean, yeah, let's leave it at that. Some guests and orders now receive your certificates through Japanese Village. It's a true celebration for the census, quality, ingredients, and unmatched grill side experience. Book your seat at jvedmonton.ca. So we just talked to Elliot about potentially...

I laugh at these discussions because they're, they're... In-game decisions, what's working in this game, and it's not always going to be, yeah, McDavid, Dreisaitl, let's put them in for 82 games. There are games it's not going to work, and you're going to have to switch them out. Somebody else is going to find chemistry.
And I think Chris has done an amazing job, actually, when to put them together and when to separate them. But as I said, our top six is as good as any top six in the league, and I would not trade our top six for any other top six that I can think of, nor would I our bottom six. There's probably no other team in the league that I wouldn't trade our bottom six for their bottom six.
All right, that is Craig McTavish, who did also, not that he free-passed the Oilers, but he said the injuries down the middle were an issue.
Oh, injuries, it is an excuse. I mean, it's a valid excuse. I mean, we were beat up, and Henrik, I mean, I remember you and I talking here about...
henrique over samansky and i mean it was kind of a laughable question to me at the time i mean you need guys like adam henrique in the playoffs because they're never going to make a mental mistake he wins all kinds of face-offs and uh as great as savoy on the penalty kill i mean yeah he was he was a huge loss as things unfolded but
I mean, the injuries played a big, big part of it because the injuries, to your point, their young players got better every game. They got more and more confidence, and they were tougher and tougher to put away, and eventually they got us.
All right. Frank Cervelli was also on yesterday from Frankly Hockey. I asked him to comment on Connor McDavid calling the Oilers average.

Chapter 3: How did injuries affect the Oilers' performance?
And to go into the playoffs not feeling my best sucked. It was hard mentally to wrap your head around it some days when I really was day-to-day. Like, I would wake up, and if it was swollen or not, I could kind of gauge what I was going to be able to do that day and how much pain I could handle and if at all I could even get on the ice. So, yeah, it was very frustrating.
All right, that is Jason Dickinson, who, again, I think the owners will make a concerted effort to re-sign. Kasperi Kapanen was asked if he'll stay in oil country.
I do consider this home, and my son was born here, and so it's a special place. If it was up to me, I'd love to come back, but there's a lot of things that... kind of go into it, and then hopefully the talks will work out and I come back. But yeah, just this year I felt like I played some pretty good hockey, and one thing I try to emphasize on is just being consistent.
I felt like I was doing that for pretty much the whole season, so it's a shame it ended the way it did this year, but hopefully it wasn't my last game as an Oiler.
Well, he was good, and he was good in the playoffs the last two years as well. It's 4.49 in oil country. That's the Oilers Now audio vault for our friends at Direct Workwear. When we come back, yeah, we're going to get to your texts on the Ashley Fine Floors text line.
The Orders Now Injury Report is brought to you all season long by James H. Brown and Associates, Alberta Injury Lawyers, the heavy hitters of injury law, Trent Brown, a two-time CFL All-Star, hard hit and safety back in the day, big fan of the Orders, the Elks, and the U of A Golden Bears. Both their hockey and football teams had very tough years at the university this year.
Just four wins in the final 19 games for the Golden Bears. That is inexcusable, frankly, for that program. Golden Bears football, I think, is actually steering in the right direction. Now, the Edmonton Elks. Do we not have a show live from 9 to 10 on Saturday, I believe? Is that what's taking place? Okay, well, don't be a mime, Aiden. Jump on the mic and tell us.
We do have one. I banged my hand on the table there.
Suck it up, buttercup. Come on, you're working in radio doing live sports. It ain't that tough. You know what I'm saying?

Chapter 4: What did Connor McDavid mean by calling the Oilers average?
Aim from the outset has to get the bottom nine 14 minutes with Connor and Leon playing 18. That could vary home versus road to Mac T's point. He does think that Knobloch coaches about as well as can be expected. The third and fourth line centers for Anaheim both played 13 minutes a game for what it's worth. There you go.
Bob, the Oilers need to have to find a way to flip Jari, and they must, under any circumstances, find a way to offload Darnell Nurse and use his cap space to go after a top six guy. Well, I've said it. They're going to have to work with Jerry to get him back. He has the upside to be really good. It's important for him to have a good offseason. Or flip him. Okay.
Bob, is there any chance the Edmonton Oilers bring Evander Kane back? They missed his physicality. That one comes to us from Spinner. I don't see that happening. I think that ship has sailed between you and me. Again, you can text us, 780-451-8800. Bob, so let's get this straight. McDavid broken foot. Let's put him on the penalty kill. This is our problem. What kind of deployment is that?
Well, they ran out of PKers, and part of it was Henrique got hurt. That did not help them. And those players want to kill. McDavid and Dreisaitl want to help the team out. I'd have no problem if they could. I think they need to sign. If they're going to go outside the organization, they've got to find a right shot center that can win some face-offs and kill penalties.
Chapter 5: What leadership qualities were highlighted by Frank Cervalli?
That should be an automatic for them. We have Brian Lawton at 5.05 coming up on Orders Now after I tell you.
