Who is filling in for Bob Stoffer and what’s the show’s format today?
Hey, it's Bob Stoffer. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to Oilers Now ad-free on Amazon Music, included with Prime.
Boy, yeah, those guys could be disappointed when they find out it's me, Bryn Griffith, sitting in for Bob Stoffer. Although Bob will join us after five o'clock this afternoon. But how are you doing today? Yeah, this is how our week goes. This is the only live show of the week. We have best of shows going the rest of the week. Next up for the Edmonton Oilers, the game will be coming up on Saturday afternoon at two. They'll be in Los Angeles to take on the Kings. We'll get going with the pregame. Game show at twelve thirty and then play by play action at two. As you know, Oilers Now is live from the Play Alberta Broadcast Center, playAlberta dot CA. When you play in Alberta, it stays in Alberta, so please play responsibly.
Coming up on the show today, obviously coming up in a few moments, we'll get to our top story. We'll take a look at the Oilers Now audio vault. We'll also take a look at the NHL today. This it's pretty quiet in a lot of ways. Except that there's way more action than you'd think, simply because I know the Oilers wrapped up the uh the schedule to take their their Christmas break, but there were thirteen other games in the NHL schedule for today. Two were final already. I can tell you about that. We uh saw the New Jersey Devils on home ice taking on the New York Rangers. What is going on with the Broadway Blue shirts? Yikes. Beaten this afternoon, five-nothing by the Devils, who scored once in the first, twice in the second, twice in the third period.
The other final score, Winnipeg on the road in Toronto to take on the Leafs, and the Jets scored three times in period number three to take a five-two victory over the Leafs. We'll take a look at all the other matchups on the schedule coming up later on as well. Joining us at 435 this afternoon, Daily Faceoffs. Frank Saravali is going to join. Looking forward to talking about Frank, finding his thoughts on everything going on around the National Hockey League.
What is the upcoming Oilers game schedule and pre‑game details?
As we mentioned, Bob's coming up at 505. And then we have Condor's head coach Colin Chalks going to join us today. Looking forward to catching up with Colin. That'll be fun. It's it's been an interesting season there, but I think they're starting to get things turned around in a more positive direction. But they did have trouble scoring goals, so we'll get to Colin coming out. Up at five thirty five this afternoon. Don't forget, seven eight zero four five one eighty eight hundred is the new Ashley Fine Floors text line. You can find new floors, the ones you've always wanted, at 143rd Street and 111th Avenue, or you can head to AshleyfineFloors dot com for more details and on the social media sites. I know Bob's not here, but I guarantee you'd be checking this.
Okay? So here's uh Here's how you can find them on X. The handles are the following. At OilersNow, check. At Bob underscore Stoffer. Check. And at Brendan Escott. That's with two E's and two T's. Do we have to say that all the time? Are we obligated to always cooler if you do, I think. I I think it is. I kinda like that. Yeah. You know, it it you know what it does? It makes Brendan with two E's and two T's chuckle every time you say that to him. Yeah. It's uh it's working. Let me put it that way. Guess who is uh is our producer of the show and he's gonna join us frequently here this afternoon. That's Aiden Gannum. He's in the studio today. How are you doing? How you doing? Fine, thank you. I want to before we even start here, I want you to tell everybody how your day went yesterday.
What were you do like you tell everybody what you were doing?
Well, I was uh I was doing reporting for the station and uh I got to interview Victor Arvidson and Matthias Yanmark, go down and ask Chris Knobloch a question. He's uh he's a really nice guy on the interviews, but you know, you can definitely feel his presence when he walks into a room, but I'm sure he's a fantastic
Now, is that that's the first time you've done this for us where you've actually done the walk off during the broadcast, right?
