How can looking at the big picture of my life help me quit smoking?
Today I want to share different tips with you that can help you to stop smoking naturally and I want to start this episode with you looking at your life. And now you might be saying, What? Huh? What do you mean? Well, please allow me to explain. What I mean by that is that I want you, or let's better say I invite you, it's of course totally up to you if you do it, but I invite you to look at your life and to see the big picture. To not look at you smoking cigarettes as this one single thing that you do, but to see it in the context of your life. So in other words, do you smoke cigarettes? Because you're constantly stressed? Or are you smoking cigarettes because there is some friction and some fighting and some arguments in your relationship?
Or do you smoke cigarettes because you're living a life that is not really true to yourself? I mean, besides stress and family conflicts and conflicts in relationships, one of the biggest reasons why people are smoking, and I know that.
Why do stress, relationship conflicts, and an unfulfilled life trigger cigarette cravings?
Of my hypnosis clients is because they don't live a life that is true to themselves. In other words, they don't live the life that they really want to live. To give you a very simple example, maybe they always wanted to start a business or always wanted to be an artist, and they are now living a life in which they have to go to an office and they hate it, they hate their life, they hate their job, and of course. The more you hate your life, the more stressed you feel, the more you feel this feeling of restlessness, this feeling of unease, and this can then lead to you trying to suppress this feeling by taking a cigarette and by smoking it. So look at your life, look at your lifestyle, and really ask yourself: am I living a life that I truly enjoy?
Am I living a relaxed life or am I living a stressful life? Am I living a life that brings me joy? Am I living a life that brings me fulfillment? What kind of life am I living? Because when it comes to you quitting smoking, especially in the natural way, you want to break it down in all kinds of different parts and then fix these different parts. I mean don't get me wrong, I still believe as a certified hypnotist that hypnosis is the most effective way. How you can quit smoking.
What does the four‑week hypnosis coaching program include for smoking cessation?
That's also why I created a four-week hypnosis coaching program for smoking cessation for you. But I also believe that if you tackle the problem from all kinds of different angles and you have a look at your life in the big picture, and you then make decisions, lifestyle decisions that help you to quit smoking easier, that help you to feel more relaxed, that help you to feel more at peace, that lead you to the life that you truly want to live. Then of course it will be so much easier for you to then quit smoking once we reprogram your subconscious mind for your new identity as a non-smoker, which is something that we will be doing in the four-week hypnosis coaching program for smoking cessation.
And then you might also, now that I already mentioned the word stress, think about how you can deal better with the stress. In your life. I mean, yes, don't get me wrong, that's not an excuse for you to say, oh yeah, I'm working 12 hours every day, so thank God, I just need a few techniques to deal with my stress better. I don't have to think about my lifestyle choices. I don't have to think about working less. Whew, thank God. No, no, no, that's not what I'm talking about. You might still want to think about how you can reduce the workload in your life, how you can reduce the stress in your life. How you can feel more relaxed.
How can simple breathing techniques replace the relaxation I get from smoking?
You can think about all these things and you should be thinking about all these things. But at the same time, I also want to give you tools to regulate yourself, to regulate your stress level. And yes, this is also something that we will be doing together in the four-week hypnosis coaching program for smoking cessation. And specifically when it comes to two tools that I recommend. There is on the one hand meditation and on the other hand breathing exercises. Because I've experienced it with so many of my clients that they don't really get relaxed when they take a cigarette and smoke it because of the nicotine or because of the other chemicals in the cigarette, but because by taking the cigarette and putting it in their mouth and by changing their breathing pattern, that's what relaxes them.
