I mean, it's been a wild couple of days. I know people are still kind of enjoying the 4th of July weekend. It was a lovely weekend here on the East Coast. And then we're right back into the political shit of Donald Trump and the reminder of the hellscape that we're living in every single day. And we're here to talk about it.

Peter's going to jump in with me and talk for a little bit about what's going on in Texas. And then I've got a special guest for you guys. My friend Jojo from Jers is going to join me for the heard her or seen her or read her. She is a treat. You guys will love her. And she's whip smart. And she's a fellow Jersey girl like me. And we're going to talk about this Epstein nonsense that continues to plague Trump world. I mean, get the popcorn. It's the most ridiculous, insane cover up. We're also going to talk about that crazy cabinet meeting today. If you have a life, you didn't watch it, but we do. So you don't have to. And then we talk about it here. trump was on one today um like he always is with those cabinet meetings and and this whole nobel peace prize thing like are we kidding are we kidding this guy we're gonna talk about all of that in a minute but i wanted to start with um what's the you know the big news story really is just this tragedy in texas and it's just so heartbreaking because i think all of us can relate to um being at summer camp i know i went to girl scout camp and
When I was a kid in upstate New York, I went to Camp Glenn Spey, it was called. If anyone is from the North Jersey area would know where the Girl Scout camp was. And just like what happened tragically with those little girls and all of the people in Hill Country down there in Texas. I think there's a certain humanity there. about taking care of your neighbor and having compassion. It doesn't matter what side of the aisle you're on, whether it's a red state or blue state, who cares? You know, tragedy is tragedy. And just watching what's going on there and seeing the community come together and trying to like, we just all grieve and our hearts just break for all of it. And every day we're getting more information about it.
And, you know, was it climate change? Could the tragedy have been avoided? The cuts with NOAA and the National Weather Service and FEMA. Like, there's a lot of layers to this story that I think is partially why just not just the tragedy of it and the heartbreak, but there's a bigger political story here that cannot be ignored. And I think that it's important that people understand that. And we're not going to like point fingers and say, well, it's this one person's fault, blah, blah, blah. Because you can't. I mean, weather is weather. But I think it's important because we're in the middle of hurricane season to talk about this may not be the only tragedy. And God forbid, you know, there's real life consequences to policy decisions.
And Doge coming in earlier this year with a sledgehammer and just decapitating a lot of government agencies really indiscriminately, that's eventually going to rear its ugly head, the consequences of that. And what's happening now this summer, what's supposed to be a really active hurricane summer, hurricane season. I mean, the head of FEMA, I think it was the head of FEMA, didn't even know that hurricane season was a thing. What? Like, great. It's like the head of the Social Security Administration. He had to Google what the Social Security Administrator does. These are the people that are running our government. So while American citizens are suffering tragedy and loss, these are the people that are in charge of helping you
I don't know. There's a certain cruelty here that is lost on a lot of folks when these policy decisions are made.
