Right, hello and welcome to another episode of the Offload podcast. Now, Donica is off Sunday. Well, to be fair, he's not Sunday himself. He's doing an amazing job. He is in Sierra Leone at the minute, doing some incredible work, highlighting what's going on over there for UNICEF. So, we are joined by the perfect man to talk us through the matches this weekend. To give us an insight, particularly into the Champions Cup final, he is spending the last two years over in Bordeaux with Bordeaux Begla. He, of course, played for a number of years with Leinster, 37 caps for them, 37 caps for Ireland. And, well, who knows what's going to happen next season? But I'm delighted to be joined by Joey Carberry in the blue skies.
How are you, man? I'm great. Thank you very much for having me. Listen, it's great to have you with us. Great to get a bit of insight on what's going on over in France, maybe what's happening in the Bordeaux camp. But you are unfortunately not available for Bordeaux this weekend. You've injured your ACL, man. Listen, a guy who unfortunately has had a career with injuries. I'm heartbroken for you, man, but I believe rehab's going well.
No, it's all going well. It's all going well. I'm on everything that I've needed to do to this point. I've hit the markers and it's feeling good. So just unfortunately, I need to be patient with it and let it heal. But yeah, no, it was a very disappointing time, way to finish my time in Bordeaux. But look, hopefully I'll be back better for it. You've loved it over there. Yeah, I've loved every minute. For me to experience something like this, it's always something I've said in my career I'd love to have done, gone to France. I've always loved watching how they play and how they do things and to be able to experience it firsthand and to be involved in a team like Bordeaux. For me, it was amazing. I lived up to all the expectations.
So, no, it's... For me, it was a very special two years.
Well, we'll get into the style of rugby that they play in a minute. But I do want to say to you, I mean, when you were with Leinster, you were with Munster, I mean, you injured yourself. You were probably just sent into training as normal. But over there, they do things differently. You're down in Capriton, down beside Biarritz on the south of France coast, doing your rehab. That's nice.
Yeah, no, it is. It's when it's 30 odd degrees in the day and you finish up your rehab at one and you can go down to the beach and chill. No, it's good. They have a rehabilitation place here.
