Welcome to Next Level Agents, the podcast that's all about breaking barriers and building empires. I'm Kevin Kaufman, and together with my crew, bringing you straight up fire. Interviews with top tier agents, game changing thinkers, plus the strategies and mindset shifts to dominate in real estate. Whether it's personal growth, leadership packs, or next level tactics, we've got you covered. So tell me, what does the next level look like for you? Buckle up because we're about to take you there right now. There's a leadership trap that almost nobody talks about. And it's not laziness, it's not lack of ambition. It's not even fear or failure. It's this. You know exactly what needs to be done. But you still don't do it.
You know the conversation that you need to have with the underperforming agent on your team or employee on your team. You know the recruiting call that you need to make. You know, the standards that you're allowing to slip. You know the systems that are broken. You know the habits that are hurting your business. And instead of attacking the thing that matters most. You spend your time reorganizing your calendar, tweaking your C R M. You watch another training video. You prepare. Before you know it. Another month has gone by. One of the biggest lies in business is that successful people know something that you don't. Most of the time, they just simply execute faster than you. What's up, everybody? Welcome to the podcast.
My name is Kevin. And this is Next Level Agents. And I'm sharing some thoughts with you today that I've revisited several times over the last couple of years. This was a piece of content.
What is the leadership trap that most agents don’t admit to?
I guess originally some notes I had taken from something I heard Alex Hormozy share. And the name of that, I think was a podcast on modern wisdom called 24. controversial truths about success and failure. And listen, whether you love hormosy style or not, there's some awesome leadership truths in there that just hit really hard for me. And I just I think maybe just naturally I started thinking about this as a as a real estate team leader. I started thinking about the people that I talk to, like agents and brokerage owners and people trying to build something meaningful in difficult markets. And so I figured today I'd unpack a few of these, some of my favorites from this episode that I've just really I've genuinely revisited my notes on this a few times in the last couple of years, just through the lens of like leadership.
recruiting production, personal responsibility, things like that. Because listen, the market that we've been in. And while it's it's a little bit different right now, it's not that much different. It's exposing people. And I think it's exposing weak leadership, weak habits, weak standards, weak culture. And From what I see, the teams that are gonna win over the next handful of years, and probably this this is probably forever, it's not like necessarily the the smartest people, the smartest teams that are gonna win. I think it's the teams that execute with clarity and consistency. You probably noticed that theme here on the podcast here recently, right? So let's so let's dive in. All right. So these are my 10 controversial truths or taken from from Alex's 24 controversial truths.
These are these are my 10 that just really stick out to me. Number one is speed to action is power. One of the biggest competitive advantages in business is speed. Not reckless speed, though, not chaos or impulsiveness. But Literally just reducing the gap between decision and execution. I see this all the time in real estate. A leader says we need to recruit more aggressively. Everybody nods. And three weeks later, Nobody's changed their behavior. Or we need stronger follow up. Great. Did we actually implement anything? Did scripts change? Did the accountability change? Did the scoreboard change? See, ideas are everywhere, but execution is rare. And one thing I've noticed about high-performing operators, and that's whether that's inside of place, who I spent a lot of time with, a lot of great operators there, or my my peers at EXP.
