Buckle up because we're about to take you there right now. Hey everyone, we're back on the Next Level Agents Podcast. I am Kevin Kaufman and I'm gonna continue today on the series I started recently called Next Level Truths. These are just short, kind of focused episodes where I share one truth about the real estate business that I believe every single agent needs to hear.
These are built on My experience obviously being in real estate now for Gosh, going on nineteen years. Running a running a real estate team, having helped coach, develop, train up hundreds of agents, as well as coach and mentor, other agents not in my not in my immediate business. And of course, the amazing people that I have had the honor to interview on this podcast over the years. So just again, no fluff, no hype, just kind of some of the things that I think actually work. Today's truth. It's an addition to it's it's gonna go along with truth number one. And truth number two is that your database is your business. Your database is your business. Not to say your CRM. This is not about your marketing plan.
This is definitely not about your social media page and whether everything looks looks good. It's not even your brand. It is though. Your relationships. And if you really understand this, it can change how you approach your business. And how your business reciprocates to you in an amazing way. And it could all start today. So all right, let's dive in. I think the biggest one of the biggest misunderstandings in real estate. Is I see agents, they think their whole business is about lead generation. I told you this goes with the last one, right? Where we weren't talking about lead gener, we were kind of talking about the follow-up.
How does a database differ from a simple storage system?
What I know about agents is they spend so much time chasing leads, buying leads. Finding out what new lead sources there are. They test new platforms. They're they're trying to, it's like they're trying to crack the code, if you will. And I get it. Partially, it's human nature. Partially, that's what the industry tells you to do. There's so many people out there trying to sell shit to us as real estate agents. But here's the truth. Most successful real estate businesses are not built on Him quotes leads. They are built on Capital R relationships. Referrals, clients that come back to you over and over again, people who already know you, people who trust you, people who think of you when real estate comes up.
See, that's the real business here. This is a gold mine that you're sitting on. And you may not even note it. Notice it. Let's make this real for a second. Open your phone. Like for real, get your phone. You probably have you're probably listening to this on your phone. Grab it. Look at your contact app. Open your text message app, scroll through that. Think about your p your clients that you've helped in the past. Think about your friends. Your family. Think about the people you hang out with. You are literally sitting on a gold you're holding a gold mine in your hand, actually, if you have your phone in your hand. There are people in your world right now who will buy They will sell They will refer to you or they know someone who will do one of those three things.
But here's the problem. Most agents treat their database like it's a storage system.
What role does trust play in shortening sales cycles and boosting conversions?
When in reality they should look at it like a relationship system. See, most agents just collect contacts. They dump 'em into a CRM. Well, not even everybody does that. Some of you Use a spreadsheet and some of you don't even don't even do that, but I digress. Put it into the CRM and then like nothing. There's no real connection, no real follow-up.
