Kevin Kauffman 0:46
Again, these are just been five episodes short focused. Where I share just a single truth about the real estate business that I think most agents either need to hear or rehear. You've probably heard this stuff on some level at one point in your career or maybe 10 times. I don't know. But it's stuff that works. And that's why I'm sharing it with you.

How does Kevin define “easy” actions that keep agents busy but unproductive?

Kevin Kauffman 1:04
So I'm gonna go back through, or I'm sorry, I'm gonna I'm gonna hit you with the fifth truth here. Right. So this is the five of the fifth of the five truth truths and uh finishing that off. Today. Here we go. I'm gonna jump right in. I think most agents are addicted to easy. Now before you push back on that and before you say, yeah, Kevin, that's not me, just stay with me for a few minutes, okay? Cause I think this can shows shows up in ways people maybe not even realize. It's not this isn't really about laziness, right? Let's start here. It's not about laziness. I don't I don't think most agents are lazy. Again, I see agents that are working, they're busy. They're putting in time. They're trying to build something.
Kevin Kauffman 1:49
But there's a difference between working. And working on the right things. And what I've seen over and over again Is this?

Why do activities like scrolling social media, organizing CRM, or watching training videos feel productive yet stall growth?

Kevin Kauffman 1:58
Agents tend to choose what's easy. Over what actually works. So let's let's define what easy looks like in the business. Like Kevin, what are you talking about here? Easy looks like. Scrolling social media instead of calling people. Or even scrolling social media instead of posting. If posting is part of your strategy. Easy looks like organizing your CRM instead of actually using it. Easy looks like watching training videos instead of taking action on the training videos. Easy looks like designing marketing instead of having real conversations. Easy looks like planning and planning and replanning your day and your week instead of executing on the plan you came up with once. See, all of those things can feel productive.
Kevin Kauffman 2:46
They can make you feel like you're doing something. But they don't actually move your business forward. And listen, we're human. Like We do this, we choose easy, but the question is why do we do this? And I think it's just cause easy feels good.

What is the hidden cost of choosing easy and how does it lead to burnout?

Kevin Kauffman 3:02
It feels safe. Easy feels comfortable. Maybe the biggest one of all is easy doesn't expose you to rejection. Easy doesn't put you in a position to fail. The problem is that easy Doesn't grow your business. What we know actually works is what contrasts with that. Activities that actually grow your business are not easy. They're simple, but they're not easy, right? Calling people, starting conversations, following up when someone didn't respond. Asking for that appointment. Asking for them to hire you. Those things can be uncomfortable, but we know they work. And that's the trade off, easy versus effective. Most agents will almost always choose easy. Most humans, how you just get a word on that word agents, and most humans will choose easy.
Kevin Kauffman 3:49
But see, there's a hidden cost of easy. And here's the part that most people don't think about. Choosing easy doesn't just slow your business down. It creates frustration.

What is the “comfort trap” and how does it keep agents from building results‑driven businesses?

Kevin Kauffman 3:59
Because you're working, you're busy, you're putting in the time. But you're not getting results. And that gap between effort and results. See, that's where burnout comes from. Burnout's not from working too hard. It's from working hard on the wrong things. The other the other part of this I think is the comfort trap, right?
