And then six months later you looked back and thought What the hell was I thinking?
All right, well today's episode's for you. This is Kevin. Next Level Agents Podcast. Thanks for joining me. Here's the deal. A lot of people Ah, all of us have had that at some point or another, right? And this isn't because you're not smart. It doesn't happen because you don't work hard. But because you your brain tricked you. Like your brain played tricks on you. Right, here's the reality. Most of the bad decisions that you've made in your business, I've made in my business, everybody else has made. weren't because we didn't have enough information. They happen because of how we process the information. And so today I want to talk you through something that honestly might.
How does the fast‑brain vs. slow‑brain model explain reactive decision‑making?
maybe end up being one of the highest roi conversations that you and I have conversation. That's maybe not the right word. Maybe the highest ROI podcast that that you listen to, right? And here's what we're going to talk about. We're talking about how your brain actually Makes decisions. And why you default to the bad decisions and the six biases that are quietly costing you money, time and momentum right now. All right. So And the other, I want to give a quick shout out. I kind of this brought got brought to my attention by my friend, my mentor, my business partner, Ben Kenny. He shared some of this information with myself and some of the other place operators. On a Zoom, uh, I don't know, maybe a month or two ago.
And I just this was good. I I just wanted to put it into some different words and share it with y'all. So First part I want to talk about is our fast brain versus our slow brain. Now you already might be aware of fast thinking versus slow thinking, right? That's a concept from the author Daniel Kahneman. And The thing is is he completely changed the way So many people. Think about making decisions. Because he he breaks these he breaks decision making into two systems. System one, your fast brain. System two, your slow brain. So your your fast brain is automatic, it's emotional, it's reactive.
Is there a one‑sentence script that can pull you out of reactive mode?
It runs the show, really, like probably ninety-five percent of the time. It's the voice that says, Say yes right now, or trust your gut, or don't miss this opportunity. Now System two, your slow brain, that's more deliberate and analytical and strategic. That's the part of you that actually builds businesses, right? But what what's the problem? The problem here, if you think about what I just said, your fast brain is basically always on. Your slow brain takes a lot of effort. And most agents, most leaders are building their entire business from their fast brain decisions. They're hiring, they're firing, they're they're rolling out marketing plans, expanding, recruiting. They're doing all of this in system one like or in reaction mode would be another way of saying that right
So I'm going to share with you a simple habit that will immediately improve your decision making. We're gonna just pause. That's right. Just pause. And start saying this. Okay, this is a script. I want you to write this one down. Okay. You're gonna say. Is it okay if I think about this for a day? That's your script. Is it okay if I think about this for a day? That one sentence could be worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in your career because it forces you out of a reaction and it into Intentional thinking, right?
How does the urgency trap distort important business decisions?
And that's so hard because of this thing that we call the urgency trap.
