What is the step‑by‑step plan to quit smoking using hypnosis and practical tips?

Certified Hypnotist & Cognitive Behavioral Coach 0:00
Hello and welcome to another opportunity to quit smoking today and today's topic is how to quit cigarettes. Today I want to show you step by step how you can quit cigarettes for good and how some of my hypnosis clients have combined the hypnosis sessions that they booked with me with practical tips to achieve even more success in a shorter period of time when it comes to quitting cigarettes and to no longer having the craving for cigarettes. And the first thing that you should do or that you might want to do, I mean, I can only share these tips with you. You are the one who then has to implement them. I would never force you to do anything. But what you might want to do is to replace the habit of smoking with the habit of exercising.

When it comes to smoking, a lot of it is habits. We human beings, we are creatures of habit. And if you always have the habit that when you are stressed, the first thing you do is to take out a cigarette, light it up and then smoke it. That's a habit. That doesn't mean that it's an addiction. It's often just a habit that turned into an addiction. And you are addicted more to the habit than you are to the different chemicals that are in the cigarettes. If that wasn't the case, then there were not so many amazing people who are able to quit smoking very fast.

How can replacing the smoking habit with exercise help break the addiction?

Certified Hypnotist & Cognitive Behavioral Coach 1:23
In fact, the best results I ever had during a hypnosis session was a guy who was smoking more than 10 cigarettes every day. And after one hypnosis session, he was no longer smoking. I don't say that this happens each and every hypnosis session, I want to be 100% honest with you, but this guy did it. And he did that, he accomplished that, because during the hypnosis session, we were reframing the way he looked at smoking. During his session, we were opening his subconscious mind to then replace the habit of smoking with another habit. And afterwards, he just did it. Afterwards, he replaced this habit with another habit, even though the cigarette still contained the same chemicals. So it was not about the chemicals.

It was about the habit. And for him, all he did was whenever he felt stressed, whenever he had the urge to smoke a cigarette, he just simply exercised. He did one push-up or one sit-up. That's what we decided on. That's the habit that we installed during the hypnosis session. And that's exactly what he did afterwards. Whenever he had this urge, and it wasn't as strong as it was before, but it was still there sometimes.

Why does viewing each cigarette as a monetary cost motivate quitting?

Certified Hypnotist & Cognitive Behavioral Coach 2:29
Again, I want to be 100% honest with you, his urge was still there a little bit for a few days. But every time he had the urge, he simply did a push-up or he did a sit-up. And this was how his mind was programmed. Or let's better say, how we reprogrammed his subconscious mind. So always think about habits when you think about quitting smoking. And then replace the habit of smoking with a healthier habit. And what if you're thinking about a cigarette and you're thinking about smoking it? In this moment, I invite you to think about each cigarette as a specific dollar amount. Yes, that's how I want you to think about it. Because how many dollars a month, or no matter where you live, maybe euros or Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, US dollars, use the currency that you are most familiar with?
Certified Hypnotist & Cognitive Behavioral Coach 3:18
How much money do you spend per month smoking? How much money do you quote-unquote invest in destroying your health? Think about that. And this mindset alone can help you to stop smoking, because you realize, holy cow, I spent so much money for nothing. Yeah, I basically set the money on fire and smoke it.

How do deep‑breathing and meditation reduce cigarette cravings?

Certified Hypnotist & Cognitive Behavioral Coach 3:40
That's what you're doing. And becoming aware of that and really calculating, when you look at an individual cigarette, how much money you waste with this cigarette, this can make it more likely for you to stop smoking. or at least to be motivated to look for methods that can help you to stop smoking. And if you want to find out more about hypnosis, and also me as a hypnotist, you can go to quitsmokingpodcast.com slash hypnosis. And on this page you can also watch a short video from Matt Damon, who quit smoking with hypnosis, and you will also learn about other celebrities who quit smoking with the help of hypnosis.
