We actually did something on Win Make Give a couple of years ago, but this time I get to be in charge and you're on the hot seat. my start in real estate in 2008. I had spent started preaching when I was 16. So I had a year years and years, a couple of decades of ministry experience. So b aka in the real world, I have no employable skills. And so I'm a bachelor I have a bachelor of science in pastoral ministries and I I could I could parse Greek verbs and and what have you, but I I have nothing else that I can do. And my last year in ministry, I flew 125,000 miles. It was literally all over the world. And I remember in January of 2008, getting off the stage of after preaching to about 50,000 people in in pro Andhra Pradesh, India. And I'm Skyping my kids. And I have this realization when I closed my MacBook after Skyping my kids that that's all parenting was gonna look like for me in 2008, in Jane in January.

That that month. I literally was gonna be on the road and have a digital relationship with my four children and my wife. That that'd have been sobering. It was and I I for me it was God but d call it whatever you want to call it. But when I had that hit me is like I felt like this voice went off my head said, You've traveled the world and played with everybody else's kids. Now it's time to come home play with your own. And so I came home, told my wife about the experience. That was late January. And by the beginning of March, it was very obvious I needed to get out of ministry. So I literally Resigned my church, canceled all fifty eight pre engaged speaking engagements and said what now? Watched house hunters three time and thought real estate would be a great career to get into in Houston, Texas in two thousand eight, brother.

Kevin Kauffman 2:49
That's awesome, man. So many similarities there with the two of us that we don't have time or a therapist with us to help us break that. So you got licensed in OA, I Tell me. Like what what was that like? Was your goal like, hey, I'm just gonna go sell some real estate? Because I know a little bit about your story. Obviously, having owned brokerages and done a lot in leadership too and coaching and speaking. What was your plan coming into real estate?
Lucas Sherraden 3:16
Honestly, my plan was just to put bread on the table. Seriously. So I I went I started at another Major franchise went broke really, really quickly, sold cars on the side as I was trying to get my real estate career going, which should have told me they didn't know how to get me into production quickly. And then after going broke, going about a hundred thousand dollars in credit card debt, using lines of credits to pay minimums on credit cards and credit cards to pay gas and groceries. I joined for me, I joined Keller Williams and the next nine month months I went out to sell like thirty-six units, made a hundred and sixty thousand dollars, then doubled it the next year, then had an opportunity to run an office, then own an office, and then own several offices and regional director and
